Re: Amar'e Safari: Officially The Greatest Thead in RCF HISTORY !
I'm a little confused about why the Cavs wouldn't take on Richardson's contract if they had to. Make that totally confused.
Of course, that's alot of salary, but I thought the whole point of the Cavs getting better was that Gilbert was willing to pay whatever it took for LeBron to stay, even at least considering contracts like Elton Brand's.
Maybe we'd prefer not to take it on, but it would just seem weird that we'd push this hard for Amare Stoudemire, but if we had to take on a 28/29 year old mega-athletic SG with a gerat 3-point shot, capable of putting up upto 20ppg and with a large contract that expires after next season, suddenly that's not worth keeping LeBron happy and landing BY FAR the best player he would have ever played with in Amare?
Maybe there's something I'm missing there, I know J-Rich has had some issues off the court, still can't believe that story about him driving recklessly with his kid in the back.
But to not bring in Amare Stoudemire just because the guy coming with him has had a couple issues off the court seems crazy, and to be honest I don't believe it.
Jason Richardson was the Cavs' top trade target 2 years ago when we had issues at the 2 guard, and we still have similar issues. He would become our most talented SG, but he wouldn't have to start if they didn't want to risk chemistry.
I just don't believe Jason Richardson is a deal-breaker for the Cavs, not for a second. Maybe it's something to do with making the salaries match, and they found out the league wouldn't sign off on the trade if we used Wally for a certain amount. But otherwise, Jason Richardson would actually be a damn good pickup for us, and if we miss out on Amare Stoudemire because of this, I can't see LeBron being happy at all.
