If you guys frequent the clevelandbrowns.com message board you may have seen the following. I have copied it from there and am curious about what you guys think as we've been talking about Charlie in the other threads.

As of this past Sunday, Charlie Frye has completed 16 starts in the NFL. As much as we'd all like to treat him like an NFL veteran, he has only completed one-full season as a starter. Below are his compiled stats:

GS: 16
RECORD: 5-11
ATT: 496
COMP: 307
COMP %: 61.9
YARDS 3084
TD: 13
INT: 19

I hope that these numbers put things into perspective. What if I told you that Charlie's completion percentage, interception total, AND WINNING PERCENTAGE are all BETTER than PEYTON MANNING'S 1st 16 games. Charlie is completing almost 5% more of his passes, has thrown 9 fewer interceptions, and won 2 more games. And HE has done all of that WITHOUT Marshall Faulk and Marvin Harrison. Now of course I am not saying that Charlie is better than Peyton or going to be Peyton. What I am saying is that to reap the rewards of winning football, ALL YOUNG QUARTERBACKS AND TEAMS take their lumps! NOTHING in the NFL is free. Every play is monumental, every yard is a fight, and every game is a war. The more we unite as fans and stand behind this YOUNG AND TALENTED group, the more likely our Brown's will be to win those plays, those yards, AND THOSE GAMES!!! HERE WE GO BROWNIES, HERE WE GO!!! WOOF, WOOF!!!

Manning had a very bad rookie season. But surely one can't compare the 2 QB's, look at their arm strength, etc and think that Charlie is even comparable. Frye's ceiling is that of a gritty backup QB who can win you some games occasionally. But as a starter he's not ever going to be the answer.

Great point, but stats only tell a small part of the story. Stats dont tell about all the other X factors for every game and everything else around the QB.

So, while the stats are fun to look at, they dont tell much.

I have been saying that,he just finished his whole nfl season as a starter.Give the guy a break.
