Another Guy: Browns Want Dielman

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I would prefer to trade down, but we say that every year.

If we don't trade down, at 3/4, I would like Peterson, Branch or Thomas. In no particular order.

We'd be morons to trade ANYTHING for Turner.

I'd give up a 3rd round pick for the guy, you wouldn't?

A Mac aka The Truth said:
The guy is not the savior or worth anything in a trade for this team, why on earth would anybody trade a first round draft pick for him? Thats just stupid.

If he gets tendered, he's bascially a Charger...

I'm warming up a bit to AP....I'm still really undecided who I want in the 1st round.

I've wanted AD all along... Alan Branch is probably the guy who'd I want behind him and Joe Thomas after that...

No one wants a QB yet with Chuck Frye launching 13 yard mammoth blasts I'm not sure why no one is even remotely interested in JaMarcus Russell..amazing size his arm is a howitzer he runs people over and he looks pretty durable compared to Vanilla Vick back there running and screaming for his life..

Quinn is falling faster than Britney Spears...he's being talked about maybe 10-15 instead of 1-5...maybe his combine helps him but everyone is starting to call him Joey Harrington 2.0

I'd pass on both QB's to be honest... I'm not enamored by either one of them and nor to I think they'll be anything special in the NFL..

I think Russell is just about a lock for the #1 overall pick and Brady Quinn better get ready for an Aaron Rodgers type fall.. (I find it funny that Rodgers and Quinn were the "prototypical" NFL QB coming out of college and were the product of the Jeff Tedford/Charlie Weis pro system... Both of them had good arms and all the measureables you want...)

No defensive player is worth the 3rd/4th pick IMO if you go defense then trade down...

Call me crazy, but I'd take Branch there... I see him as one of the best defensive lineman to come out in a long time... And with the Browns run defense being terrible, I just can't see how you could pass on him...

We really need the 3rd pick to squeeze an extra selection out of Tampa telling them that San Diego (with their two 1st rounders) are moving up..or that the Vikes are moving up to take CJ or hell that we're dealing Braylon for a 2nd and we're taking him...something to get an extra 2nd this year or next year or a 3rd this year for it.

We need the 3rd pick, period. Not only does it gives us more value when in terms in trading down but, we don't have to wait for the guy we want...

Only downside is that the signing bonus and contract is a lot more... Which I think will be one of the things that stimulates Savage to try and trade down...

A Mac aka The Truth said:
Quinn will still be a top ten pick...garbage talk like that happens all the time.

Like I said before, Aaron Rodgers was the same way... People were talking how he might go #3 to Cleveland, just like they are with Quinn...

Quinn will still be a top ten pick...garbage talk like that happens all the time.

What good would a QB on this team do without an OL?

No QB could win with this offense... no one. Until we fix the O-Line and running game, we're not going to be a successful offense...

A Mac aka The Truth said:
I dont like Charlie's arm, but the guy can still get us some wins if we surround him with talent. You dont need a star QB to win the big game. You need a QB that can manage the game.

I actually agree with you for once...

I would too... Not only do we not have to deal with a huge contract but we get extra picks to fill some of the myriad of holes we have...

I just hope we wouldn't have to trade outisde of the top 10... We still need some talent infusion...

I'm not sold on Branch...I'd like to see how his number stack up against great DTs of years past...I didn't notice Alan Branch at all when OSU played Michigan and I didn't notice him at all against USC..

I heard Lamarr Woodley a million times and even Leon Hall much more than Branch..

Joe Thomas had a major knee injury in 06 total blowout...pass Knowing our luck it busts or he needs a cleanup surgery and get the CBSI (Cleveland Browns Staph Infection)

The smart pick is Peterson...an absolute bulldozer..another reason Charlie had no time to throw is because they did not respect the run game whatsoever...Droughns was useless last season.

I'm not so worried about getting his name announced or the announcers recognizing his play... He's not the type of explosive defensive lineman who will consistently get in the backfield or get 10 sacks in the season...that's not his game. His game is taking up blockers and letting the LB's do their job... He makes the game easier for LB's and harder for the opposing running game; and that's what we need... You put a guy like him upfront and I bet that our rush defense and defense as a whole will improve by leaps and bounds...

cdt said:

That's because instead of taking on 2 or 3 blockers, it was 1...

He hurt it around this time last year and it usually takes about 6-9 months for a ACL tear to heal... So when it comes draft time, he should be in tip-tip shape...

When you have a major surgery like that and go through rehab, usually the part of your body that you weakened becomes stronger than it was before...

I also think that it's blown out of proportion a la that AD is injury prone...

About.com said:
Over 90% of patients are able to resume their previous level of activity after ACL reconstruction. A small percentage of patients will be limited by persistent pain or instability; however, changes in activity level following ACL reconstruction surgery are often due to choice rather than limitations of the knee joint.

AthleticAdvisor.com said:
ACL tears are no longer the end of an athlete's career. If the surgical and rehab techniques used today were available to Gayle Sayers, Joe Namaith, or even any of other affected athletes 20 years ago, their careers would probably have lasted five or ten years longer. The ACL can be repaired with no loss in function or strength. Many athletes return to play stronger and faster than before the injury.

You mean the offensive line was useless... Droughns and Peterson aren't the type of runners who create their own holes... They need lineman who make holes for them... So when we decide to upgrade our line, mainly the guard spots, then we'll start to have a good running game...

We proved that we could run the ball back in 2005(?) when Droughns went over 1,000 yards... So it's not much if we can do it, it's if we can improve our offensive line...

Smooth, how the heck are you going to compare Quinn to Rodgers.

I dont want to get Branch, the last time we took a top 5 pick DL over a runningback we passed up LT.

But on Dielman, you have to go after all the lineman possible. You dont want to put all of your chickens in one basket, however the saying goes.

Draft talks are a waste of everyone's time until the free agency period begins and we see if the OL is addressed.

As for the original topic, yeah I'll take him over Steinbach.

Just give me Dielman OR Steinbach! I don't care which one! Hell give me both of them.

I read somewhere today where Dielman supposedly wants to play for the Browns, not fully sure if it's true but if he shows he has interest in us Phil will show him the money..

IE Bentley, Jurevicius, Zastudil all wanting to come in last year..

What did you read?

According to Holmes via a league source, offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski is the reason why the Browns would have an increased interest in Dielman. Chud has worked with Dielman over the past two seasons and was "one of his biggest fans." It is worth noting that Dielman is a local guy though, which could add to his interest in coming to Cleveland. I would expect that Steinbach would require a slightly higher price than Dielman would, which could also factor into the situation.

That isn't even the exact place where I read it...so it's not just 1 source claiming he has interest in Cleveland...we need a Guard. His old OC is here, he's from here..we have money. Sounds like we'd at least be a blip on the radar wouldn't it?

Sounds like a good combination to me. Get him and AP looks a lot sexier.
