Any of you hacker-types have any good info on if it's possible and/or a reliable way to jailbreak and/or unlock an iPhone for Verizon?

Or, if anyone's got insider info on whether it'll be available on Verizon soon? The same rumor about a possible announcement at MacWorld 2009 in two weeks has been floating around internet land for awhile, but nothing new or updated.

It's killing me not having one of these things... My whole work (read: life) basically revolves around using my Apple products, and an iPhone would just beautifully tie that all together.

Unfortunately I'm locked into a Verizon contract til next summer, and even then, the prospect of being on AT&T sounds like a major bummer.

I can't help with the hacking the phone part, but I've heard rumors of Verizon iPhone for this year. I know it can be done, I just have not done it personally. Here's a few links I found with a quick search.

As for an iPhone for Verizon, I've been patiently waiting for this. The following article from September has a little info.

I've heard rumors that the original deal with AT&T was for 18 months, which would be up in January. I've heard 24 months, which would be this summer. Rumors have been swirling about patents that have been applied for that would indicate a Verizon iPhone. Who knows. The article above states that there's a possibility that AT&T extended their contract to 2010, possibly even 2012, which would be insane.

The RAZR only had a one year contract before Motorola opened it up to everybody. Apple would be stupid not to do the same. My money is sometime this coming summer, but I don't have anything to back that up. Just my opinion from what I've read.

I've been with Verizon now for about 4 years after being with Sprint for many years prior to that. Almost everybody I know is on Verizon. The only ones who aren't switched just to get an iPhone and love the phone, just not AT&T. I'm very happy with Verizon and wish they weren't so stubborn about their refund policies, etc. that supposedly axed a deal with them and Apple in the first place. They were originally first in line and bowed out and let AT&T have the deal.

I thought about getting the Storm, but it just didn't feel right in the store and I've heard horror stories. It's software has been upgraded, but I'm just not ready to cave in just yet. I'm going to stay with my run of the mill phone and bide my time until the iPhone comes to Verizon.

I'm a diehard Apple user and have been for 10 years now and really want to sync an iPhone and it's apps to my MacBook Pro.
