Well if Texan's weren't already pissed off enough by the Texan's draft this year they really are now!

Everybody down here wanted Gay really bad. They don't even know the future of Tmac and hic Tback. I do know that nobody down here liked Swift and felt he was worthless but Houston was about as upset as Knick's fans after this draft.

Like I said they are going to look back and see what kind of player he becomes and they'll watch him make the all star team and Battier will walk in and let them know he is retiring.

Don't doubt Battier.. The guy is a good scorer and is probably one of the best defenders in the NBA... Not to mention, he is a very smart player..

^ Agreed, Swift is a bum and Gay is an unproven, where the report on him is his lack of aggression. Battier sticks his foot in your ass every night. He defines the term "basketball player" and I would always welcome him on my team.

If T-Mac and Yao are healthy, playoffs are a given, though I doubt they play 80 combined, lol.

If you can get a lottery pick backup for him, you do it. Battier may be solid and would be a good addition as a 3rd option if TMac is healthy.

But when TMac goes down, and Battier is your 2nd option, that's when things will go downhill.

Battier could score 20 a game if he wanted to, I fully believe it. He just does what he is told and puts out a lot of energy on the defensive end.

Every team in the league would take Battier on their roster.

Oh no doubt that Battier is a very good player - can score when needed, one of the best defenders in the league. I do think that the Grizzlies are getting a superstar down the road though. I don't think that Jerry West would trade away a proven player like Shane Battier (who they took with what, the 4th pick like four years ago??) for nothing. The Grizzlies and Swift are already familiar with each other, so he may be more comfortable going back there and play better than he did in Houston too.

Swift is apparently very mad in returning to Memphis.. no surprises here.. he rode the pine the whole time he was there, not getting respect from Fratello... then he took less money to go to Houston, his hometown, only to get traded a year later.

Battier is a finished product for Houston... they know exactly what they'll get from him... all character, all hard work, no personal problems. Gay is still young and not ready to contribute... the Rockets need something NOW and having Swift won't help, and Gay will take too long to fit in to a system run by Van Gundy. Jeff probably loves Shane.. he'll fit in well, and start right away. The Grizzlies win long term, but the Rockets need that short term fix, and they got it.

If T-Mac can stay healthy for 60 games and be around for the playoffs...
