Every morning I listen to a sound bite of Brown talking about how "amazing" and "spectacular" LeBron is. Why I agree that the Cavs go as LBJ goes, I want to believe that Mike Brown is in control of this team and not LeBron. I want to hear (on occasion) Mike say that LeBron took some bad shots and made other mistakes. LeBron has been brilliant at times, but sub-par in some situations as well.

I am certainly content with the way the Cavs are playing ball as they seem to be getting better with each game, but times will get tough again. They will have 3-4 game skids and play poorly on the road. The bad will come with the good in terms of LBJ and the team in general and I hope Mike Brown can show us he is in charge.

In summary, I truly want to believe that Brown is the long term solution for this team. No more 2-3 year rotation at head coach. Mike certainly has the personality when things are good, and I hope he can handle adversity equally as well.

-Jim Rome Signoff-

WAR Braylon Edwards getting 10 touches on Sunday & Charlie Frye throwing the first TD of his career to him. No more next year, it's time to put the future on the field!

You will never hear Brown say that. I don't think he has yet to single out any player negatively. If an assignment is blown its the teams fault. Paul Silas was the coach that would single out a player to the media, Brown doesn't.

umm ;) Perhaps he will ------> once we start to lose some games and LeBron starts to play poorly

The coach cannot piss and moan about anything right now...So you're not going to hear anything on those lines..Why would he say anything.

It's funny how all the bitchin' this season is coming from New York and Toronto papers, yet not a peep from Detroit's ?

LeBron took one terrible shot against Orlando (and that shot sent this place into a frenzy in the game thread, and also prompted a thread that was poor in taste by one poster) ALL THAT OVER ONE SHOT

Other then that, he is doing what the coach is asking.. We cannot expect the same LeBron as years prior.. Different personel, and he is not handling the ball as much. By not handling the ball, you will not see as many of the great passes, and drives to the hole,as he does not have the ball in his hands.. But rest assure, if this team needs him to bail them out ? He will.

He will take over when the time calls.. But the point of this offense is to get him open shots, and for him to find open shooters when he has the ball.. The drive to the hole will always be there.. And i'm fine with that, cause it's not like we went anywhere with him playing the other way...

We could bitch and moan if we were 2-6 or 3-5, but for god sakes, we are tied for the 2nd best record in our league.. It's the first month of the season, and everyone is still learning.... There is absolutely ZERO reason for the coach to say anything right now.. ;)

how many bad shots could LeBron have taken when he's shooting .520 on the season? Think about it - .520 - that's Jordan in his prime shooting. From a guy who's only 20 and who shot .418 as a rookie.

he is a rookie coach. He will make some mistakes, but we are 6-2 right now and boast the 2nd best record in the NBA. I think he has done a fine job thus far. But LBJ's shot selection has gotten me a bit worried...until last night that is!

Brown is a classy guy: he keeps his criticisms out of the media. He talks about team lapses on both ends, but if you notice, he always praises individual players to the media. We've seen him have words with LBJ a couple times on the bench. And we can assume that since LBJ has slowly drifted from that long range game into more of an attack-the-basket mode, the coach's words have gotten to him.

Remember, too, that the media is choosing to single out one thing Mike Brown said in his post game conference, largely b/c, well, it's Lebron. You can watch all of his comments on cavs.com

Its very hard for Lebron to take a "bad" shot. Hes shown he can pretty much hit that fadeaway jumper when guarded 1 on 1 consistently. I remember there was this one player on the Bulls that was pretty famous for his fadeaway.

Usually, when Lebron puts it up, theres a good chance that its going in, reguardless of the shot.

I hope Coach Brown has some fire in him. Did anyone see the call that was made last night when that guy from Washington went up for a layup and LeBron blew behind him, not even touching him, letting him score, and they blow the whistle. I expected Brown to show some major emotion, but he didn't - at least what I saw on the TV. Probably because he preaches not to argue with the zebras, but still, you gotta kick it up a notch. There were a lot of bad calls in that first half against Washington.

Regarding his coddling of LeBron, you bring up a good point. I hope it doesn't have an effect on the other players....maybe thinking that they want some recognition. Unless Brown is an equal opportunity arse kisser, then fine.

Brown is just a positive guy...everything he says he says it positively, even if its a negative. I think it'll tone down a bit as the season progresses....he is still in his "shock and awe" phase.

If brown was attacking James, the media woudl write about is caustic style. Its just column fill. James is the best player in the NBA right now. What is to complain about?

the moment you start criticizing james other than his D, you've got something going on in your head... IMHO, it would be nice for mike to say that #23 needs a little more work on his defense in order to push him to do JUST A LITTLE MORE... we wouldn't want to make him go on overdrive early this season, kudos to only 35-37 minutes on the floor every game :king:

Coach Brown doesn't need to say ^%$^ to the media about LBJ or any of the players. He has class. If you think he is "passive" after watching how much better this team is playing D you're nuts. What good would it do for Brown to embarrass players on the radio or tv? Not a thing. In fact it only causes negative karma in the locker room. Praise OR blanket statements are what belongs in the media. Criticism belongs on the prtactice floor or in the coaches office. Anyone who thinks otherswise doesn't know squat about coaching sports.

Good example, Braylon Edwards. Now I think this guy is a good player. I even agree with MOST of what he has said. However he looks like a crybaby bitch on all these tv shows. It gets worse day after day as show after show has him on. He is going to be a cancer to the team and I don't see Romeo allowing this to go on again. Expect some form of punishment. You'll notice that there has been little said from coach Crennel. He also has class.

Coaches don't have the right to air their dirty laundry in the media, neither do players. I hope we NEVER see Coach Brown single out a player in the press. What would happen to YOU if someone was disciplined at work and you went to the newspaper and had it published? Pink slip.

While I agree with 90% of your responses, note that I never once said I want Mike to rip, criticize, or punish any player via the media. I simply think it keeps LBJ in check and other players on equal plane to hear him say "LeBron played well at both ends and will continue to improve" opposed to "he is the Mesiah, the Chosen One, and makes my job super easy" which is an accurate depiction of two post game interviews.

You didn't?

The only way you could hear this is if he pubicly criticizes the players. I am sure he tells them at practice or halftime.....sometimes on the bench.

Everyone needs to calm down. We are 6-2 and everyone is trying to find something to nit pick...what is it tomorrow?

Lack of Wine seats keeping team from the playoffs?

or..

Ronnie Duncan's bad announcing causing too many turnovers?

Seriously there is no problems at all, we lost to the defending champions and a Western Conference Playoff team on the road, then came back and beat them. I'm not worried and neither should anyone else.

Once again to be pessimistic about a team that's 6-2 and getting better by the day is downright absurd and not the point of the topic. This team will struggle at times and LBJ can't always be the golden child in Brown's eyes.

As for being worried, no way. Everyone picks us as a 4-6 seed that won't see the conference semis. This team will be there in the end and may surprise some folks. I wouldn't want to see this team in full health come April/May. We are in the driver's seat and have much to look forward to and little to lose.
