Cable and Internet?

I'm moving into my own pad here in the next week or so, I've got pretty much everything that I need [Ramen Noodles, Can Opener, jumbo packs of water, silverware, plates etc..]

However I don't currently have cable or internet there. I'm renting from my cousin, it's a very large room above her business. She has a business line through Windstream, but said she would call DirectTV for me and shop around for Internet and Cable. I don't need a phone line, because I have a cell and if anything I can always go downstairs and use her land line.

I'd like to get a decent amount of channels considering basic cable is usually around the same price as digital. For the internet I'd like something middle of the road at least. I don't need like a T3 line or anything, but something so I can dl music, browse youtube, do this ChaCha thing to try and make some extra bank.

If anyone has any recommendations on whether to get cable/internet from the same place or different places or anything I'd be much appreciative. She said she was going to shop around but I'd like to do the same.

I saw where TWC offers Digital Cable, Phone and Internet all for 29.95...that sounds like a helluva deal and I'd even have the Phone included just to give me a landline and get everything cheap. But they don't exactly tell you the specifics in the package, as to how many channels I get, how fast the internet goes etc...

I have time warner, and they have a decent price on lower speed cable internet. like 19.95 for 768k download or 27.95 for a bit more. To be honest, you're better off just paying for just high speed internet, and watching the majority of your TV online instead.

You can watch new episodes of any nbc show on nbc.com Depending on what kind of computer/monitor you have, you could save money in the long run by getting a tv tuner.

Here's what you do which is what I did and it has served me well. Sign up for a service that has a great online chat feature (not necessary but helps) such as comcast. Use the service for a few months and then call up or sign ont he live chat and say that you are interested in canceling your account and would like to be referred to a retention specialist. When they give you this person say tha you have received an offer from DishNetwork for cable and internet for X amount of dollars. If they cannot match then you will be forced to cancel your account. If you are on the chat then keep going back until you get a rep that will work for you. My mom paid 70 a month and I ended up getting her the same service for $19.99 a month for the remainder of her service with Comcast (basically for life) . For my wife and I, I got a good $50 off a month for a year.

Well, if you're a South Park fan, you've got South Park studios.

There's also adult swim's website. Comedy Central, I'm sure there are plenty of others out there, aside from the streaming crap like TVu and junk.

I went with DirectTV for 39.99 a month 200+ channels, HD, free installation...works for me.

Windstream Internet 29.99 a month but my cousin is paying half on that to use it as well.
