The contracts match up, too.

Cleveland to Denver:
Drew Gooden
Damon Jones
Ira Newble

Denver to Cleveland:
Earl Watson
Nene
Voshon Lenard

We finally get the guy we should have signed this summer, anyways (Watson). We can also re-sign Nene on the cheap this summer since he's injured, and have the Brazillian combo of Nene and Varejao at PF rotating in and out. Lenard is injured, too, and I don't know if he's out for the year or not, but if he isn't, he is Damon Jones with far less attitude and cockiness. Plus he doesn't call himself the best shooter in the world even when he is chucking up bricks.

I would do this trade. Watson would add so much to this team, it's ridiculous.

first off Nene is not going to sign cheap anywhere...He will go for at least 60 million over 5....and i think he is a UFA so we would be at a disadvantge considering we could only offer MLE money....

I would LOVE to have Nene but I dont see us being able to resign him

First of all he is restricted just like Drew, they were both in the same draft with Boozer. Second, even if he was unrestricted, we'd have his Bird rights since he's on the same contract for 3+ years so we can go over the cap if we wish.

But you really think Nene is getting 5 years $60 mil? Even after a ligament tear? I doubt he gets THAT much, Gooden might not even see that and he is HEALTHY with better career numbers.

Even if Nene and Gooden see similar big deals, I'd rather delve into the luxury tax to keep Nene and see what kind of a toughness he can bring than keep Gooden.

yes I DO think Nene is going to get that much....look for teams like Toronto and Atlanta to throw big numbers his way acl tear or not...he is seeking at least samuel Dalembart money or tyson chandler money

Why in the world would Denver do this deal? They seem to be giving up a lot more then what they are getting back.

Where is the incentive for Denver to make this move?

I agree. This deal is only good for Cleveland.

We get back basically what we send them (Gooden vs Nene) and then we unload our bad contracts for an expiring one (Leonard) and a PG that will help us.

I would think Vandeweghe would laugh at Ferry if he proposed this trade.
