I agree, I really can't see that happening. This early such a big trade?

but if it improves the team in the long run, then I am all for it.

I make the deal, simply because Swetney offers bulk inside ...an aspect we lack. AV will bring alot of what Gooden will leave behind, and the addition of Duhon would be excellent.

BUT FOLKS ....I talked today with Campy...and the impression I'm being given is that a trade will likely be made ....but, the players we get back will most likely be coming from the Western Conference ....and the PG will likely be coming from Denver. What is brewing is a three way deal that includes Denver and Cleveland, but the third team could be one of three different teams ...two of which are westerm conference, one a low ranking eastern conference team. We're likely offering Gooden, Snow, and possibly one other lower salaried player ....and we'd be getting back Earl Watson (at least that's who I believe he's talking about), and low post player that leans more to the center position, and a low 1st or 2nd round pick .....that's the basics. BUT, the low post player is likely a player of quality and not just a toss-in.....

That's what I got today ....

I would definately welcome watson.

I'm surprised there is talk of a quality big and a low 1st or 2nd, I'm surprised to keep hearing about the cavs trying to get a pick as well. I'd think that'd be a high price tag.

I've been racking my brain to try and figure out who a possible post player would be.

I have seen a couple of times now where Denver and the Cavs are being connected in rumors. Denver apparently is really looking to make a move. I thought their top priority was to get a SG with good shooting ability though.

Watson would be an upgrade right now but I really don't see him as that quality long term starting PG for the Cavs. Most of us were happy this past summer that the Cavs didn't throw that ridiculous contract at Watson that Denver ended up giving him. I can't believe so many are willing to take it on now.
Nene has been mentioned in trade rumors along with Watson so I don't know if he's the post player that was brought up. He's got some ability but he's out for the season and is not as skilled a player as Gooden. Nene is also a FA after the season.

well i must say that is some exciting news....keep us updated if you get any more tidbits and thanx alot..........also the post player previously mentioned icould possibly be Francisco Elson of the nuggets

any trade with denver will be a bummer for us. kiki is much more experienced than danny ferry, even though denver is starting to panic.

The team that would be the most interested in getting Gooden will be in our Division, The bulls. I believe they will probably give up Duhon for him just because they need Goodens rebounding and low post presense. I'm not willing to give it to them and believe me they will be throwing a offer at him this summer if they can't get AL Harrington. Most other teams like denver will only be renting Gooden and Watson isn't as sad as he was in the past with Denver. Theres alot of good PF in the west and the only teams that would want Gooden are the ones that don't have what we really need unless it's speedy and PJ brown, but thats a short term deal and we will most likely throw in a few more peices. Our best partner will be Chitown imo, but i'm not willing and believe that trading gooden might hurt us in the future, Z has only a few more yrs left in him, right now he's a great low post presence but what about in 4/5 yrs? Gooden will be 29/30 by then and our only post presence and since he's still young he will learn and become more knowledgable in the game.

He helps us win now, i see no problem, if we were losing and he was a reason for that, then i'll say trade him. We would of never beaten Indiana if it wasn't for him, or the Bulls, probably lose to the bucks without his 14/17 game. He's a impact player, a top 10 player in 5 cats. and a top 20 rebounder thus far.Not great on defense and sorta dumb, but he has heart and aggressive on the board.

Never been a real big fan of Earl Watson, I would think Duhon would be a better long term choice. Still interesting that we are willing to give up Snow and Gooden. I am thinking the big must be pretty decent, to make that work for me. If Gooden/Luke for Duhon/Sweetney is possible, then Watson + whom is as good a deal?

Salary wise it would need to be a 5 million dollar man. On Denver's squad Najero fits (but I cant imagine denver giving him up), but in the east we are looking at possibly Blount, Battie, Turkoglu, Marc Jackson.. In the west non denver we Stromile Swift, Brian Skinner, Nazr Mohamed would all fit.

Of these I like Turkoglu (doubt if Orlando would part with him), Blount and Mohammed best, but would not be upset with Marc Jackson. A few on this board would like to see Battie return.

So a Snow/Gooden for :

Watson/Turkoglu or Nazr Definitely got better
Watson/Jackson Probably got better (definitely got the anti Shaq bulk) or Najero not the bulk but still likely improved.
Watson/Blount Probably better offensively not defensively
Watson/Swift, Skinner or Battie probably not better.

If Nene is part of the deal (even though he is injured for the season) I jump on this deal. When Nene is recovered next season, he will be a beast. The trade will hurt Cleveland this season, but after that (assuming Nene remains healthy) it will do nothing but help this team.

We'll probably get someone like Kenny Thomas out of this deal.

I just don't a trade with Eric Snow and Gooden, both of whom have stepped it up huge this year. New system, new coach, and winning basically 2/3 of the games so far this season despite injuries all season long to key players. Even most of the Eric Snow haters have turned around because of his play this year, which has been really all we want.

Gooden could make sense especially if we are planning on just letting him walk next year. I think he'll show that hes very valuable when Hughes is out though, giving us another legitamate scorer in the starting 5 who's game was largely unused with hughes in. The absence of a good backup center (few teams really have one) makes Gooden even more valuable because though the Cavs have 4 good PFs, they only have 5 good big men which is the number a team needs.

If we're willing to take on Watson's contract though, then I don't see why trading Snow or Gooden is that big of a deal. As it stands now, the Cavs are not going to have any real cap room for a long time. The Cavs will have no significant space next year (comparable to the MLE) even if Gooden is gone (http://hoopshype.com/salaries/cleveland.htm). The year after, Lebron is going to be offered a max contract.

All of that being said, Ferry has not made one questionable move yet. If he does pull off a trade, I'm pretty sure some good will come out of it. Also, moving Zendon was really indicative of opening up a roster spot for a trade.

What about a three way with Denver and Boston,

Denver trades out Kmart, Watson and Leonard or Nene
Boston trades out Pierce and Blount and Banks
Cleveland trades out Drew and Snow

Denver gets Pierce and Gooden
Boston Gets Kmart Leonard/Nene and Snow
Cleveland gets Blount and Watson and a pick.

I think it works money wise, and clearly Denver improves, it is a wash for cleveland in talent, but the talent gets applied in better areas (more offense at point, more centerish back up to Z) and Boston gets more balanced (Tough scoring PF and defensive veteran point) this year and has terrific potential for next year when Nene is back.
