Got this from another forum :

On trades:
-Having regular discussions with other teams(if we can find something to make us better...), but looking forward to getting Hughes back.

Damon Jones:
-He is in a slump all shooters have slumps... not worried

-Also said there is no player he would rather have than Lebron.

This from the Brown chat :

- Ira Newble will continue to start for Damon Jones. Decision was made because he wanted to get back to the rotation where Jones and Marshall come in at the 6 minute mark.

- He has a lot of faith in Jones. Says he has coached against him a long time and knows what he can do.

- According to Brown, Jones is one of the best, if not THE best, off the ball defender on the team. Acknowledged that he has trouble on the ball, but "a lot of us have trouble on the ball."

- Gave a fairly good explanation of what to look for in off the ball defense, but I didn't understand it all. My take: we try to crowd the lane and force outside shots and then make sure the outside shots are challenged. I'm sure pretty much every team tries to do that.

- He liked what he saw from Sasha Pavlovic yesterday, especially on defense and that he was fearless on offense. It sounded like Sasha will continue to get minutes, but Jackson probably won't.

- Said it would be tougher for Anderson to get minutes because the guys playing in front of him are all playing well.

I can understand this in Damon's case to try and reignite him. However Ira is just not getting it done at either end. Not sure if he is 100%, but the point is if he cannot contribute, sit down.

Ok then Coach. Is that your nose growing? Pumping up his trade value maybe?

Well we do force outside shots, and watch then from a safe distance. We dont want to hyperextend our arm stretching to put pressure on the shot.

Thats the spirit Coach!

I have no problem with this apart from the comment that the player in front are playing well. Donyell is far from good form.

Mike Brown is blowing smoke in regards to Damon Jones .... in regards to Ira Newble ...the quicker he can get himself in condition, the better we'll be. He's not performing well at this stage in his reacclimation to the game after a long spell on the DL ...but, he truly does have a game that can translate well with what we need, and what he can provide once he does get his legs back and the rust comes off. Practice can only do so much ...th best and quickest way to get a player back, and the rust off is to throw him into the fire and get it going.

When healthy, and when he;s not rusty ..and he gets the added pounds off ...he can run the floor very very well, he can hit the corner three at a decent percentage, he's a tenacious and tough defender on and off the ball, and he can drive to the hole. But, he's not back in condition yet, and his best role is of the bench.

When Larry Hughes gets back and Ira has his game and conditioning back where iot should be, he will be a key component to our player rotation. Just gotta be patient and take some hits while he works his way back. We can win with Ira ...he brings alot of what we need ...and if he's on the court with decent offensive performers surrounding him, he can be at his best.

I also believe that Jones is a good off the ball defender, he follows his man well. His problem is when he gets stuck trying to go over picks... but atleast we are lucky enough to atleast try to go over the picks instead of under all the time so that certain "someone" wouldn't get hurt again and I think we all know who that is.

Need a clue? Look at last yr's roster.

Exactly what i was saying in the start Luke Jackson thread. Starting him will get him back into shape til Hughes get back and he can play defense, once Hughes is back and newble can hit his 3 and get his legs back thats a added peice we can use on the bench.
