Game 24: Trail Blazers @ Cavs, Tuesday, December 17, 2013, 7:00 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If you checked the clock, when Lillard raised up to shoot that game-winner, there was about 3 seconds left... If I was Gee, I would have got up on him with about 4 seconds, try to make him drive past me, then hit a tough pull up with time running out or have him kick it to a 3 point shooter, who will have to rush the shot because time is running out. Lillard walked right into that that 3 from his hot spot on the court. I wish Gee would have made him drive past him and hit a shot off the dribble, out of his comfort zone.

For most players I agree with what Lloyd is saying, that you let the guy take the 30 foot shot...but not for Lillard. We're talking about a guy who has a higher 3PT% than regular FG%. You need to know who you're playing. Lillard is far less effective driving, especially with only 4 seconds left on the clock.

Would Lloyd be saying the same thing if Gee were guarding Ray Allen?

The point was, get closer as time ticks, there are a lot less options for the guy with the ball as time ticks down. The point he shot the ball, he really only had one option and Gee wasn't defending that one option, which was a pretty wrong thing to do.

If Gee suddenly comes up into him ,it forces him to make a quick decision, he either has to move to take the shot (making it more difficult on the move) or he has to find a open man, who has to put it up probably rushing the shot.
He had too much time to settle and take the shot.

Exactly my point!! As I said, Lillard raised up to shoot with about 3 seconds, if Gee gets up on him around 4 seconds and makes him drive past him and create a play, they would either have to take a bad shot or a rushed shot due to time running out. Rather than letting Lillard literally walk right into his hotspot and make a 3.
