Game 45 | Thunder vs. Cavaliers | January 23, 2010 | 7:30 EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I was at the game and focusing on the same thing.

Gibson was switched off a couple times and ended up on Westbrook on drives that ended with layups for Krstic in the paint. Westbrook also took Gibson off the dribble for a basket.
I also think one sequence ended up with Durant getting Gibson on a switch that he buried a jumper in the paint over him.

BTW, Thebo had a 3 and a layup on Gibson in the 3rd quarter.

That stuff happens during the course of a game doesn't mean he was getting killed. Krstic was also much more active than Shaq in the 3rd quarter. A 6'10 Durant burying a jumper over a guy 9 inches shorter than him? He neeeeever does that. You know sometimes NBA players will score on each other.

Sefolosha's 3 came on ball rotation after Gibson had to help on someone else.

I still maintain that other than that 2nd quarter stretch Gibson was solid defensively.

This was a good win despite a bunch of flaws. The fact that these guys clawed one out with Mo, Delonte, and Moon all out was impressive.

First Gibson showed why hes our 3rd PG and what his strengths are. Hes a shooter, but was mostly getting used on D all night. He did pick it up later in the game. His ball-handling wasnt bad, and hes going to have to drive a bit more, especially if paired with AP who is also a spot-up shooter. Maybe over the course of a few starts he'll get more comfortable running things. Cedric Jackson played some good D (for the like 3 possessions he was in)

Lebron does just fine in the backup PG role, he did start off that position as a rookie. Also, give us huge size with a lineup of him, AP, Moon, 2 bigs.

JJ has been stepping up these past 2 games. Looks like he's taken a page out of AVs book and is making an effort for more hustle plays. Still plays a bit like the ball is made of butter at times.

Went to Shaq more inside this game, and the offense was running through him while Lebron was at the point, which is a good thing as we actually tend to run an offense in that situation.

Overall, the team showed enough grit to win this thing, especially in the last 5 minutes.

The bad: free throws were crap, too many offensive fouls/turnovers. Outside of Lebron, there was no transition execution (no Delonte or Mo hurt a lot there)

parker going one 1-7 from the floor...:puke:

I agree with some in here in that Gibby is a defensive liability for sure. Yeah, he played some D a few times, but was abused many other times. I actually hope we give Jackson more playing time as I believe he can use his height and quickness over Boobie to play better D. I hate LeBron at the point so I hope that is limited going forward. We are MUCH better with LeBron playing off the ball. We need to see what Jackson can do for extended minutes at the point for now. With Gibson at the point and Parker at the 2, we are not very good. Parker seems to be regressing game to game, so I'm wondering if the TOO MANY minutes he has received since the start of the season is now catching up to him? He's played over 30 minutes a game each and every game.... TOO many.

We need Delonte back. I sure hope his tests the first of this week show NO ligament damage so he can get back on the floor.

I focused on him the entire game, defensively. I saw that Westbrook lit up James in the 3rd quarter. Gibson was on Sefolosha who made a whopping one basket on him.

Its called hiding him

if Gibson can't guard the opposing PG it causes match up problems, the fact that Thunder didn't look for the mismatch for Sefalosha proved they were able to score at will with Durant and westbrook turing a 13 point half deficit into a 1 point lead going into the 4th.

I'll give Boobie props for what he did in the 4th quarter , but to say he played a solid offensive and defensive game after what we didn't see for 3 quarters is a stretch

he doesn't deserve the flyer you are giving him

currently in the cleveland airport about to head back home after flying in specifically for my first game ever in cleveland. just wow. the only other cavs game i have ever been to was game six against the wizards when damon hit his shot. so now im two for two with game winning threes not bad. i will say that block at the end and the presuing MVP chant were two of the most incredible things evrr. people are walking aronnd the airport talking about it :D

To start the 3rd, Gibson was late on rotation on a Thebo 3 to start the 3rd.
The team stuck with LBJ on Westbrook because Gibson couldn't guard him.

Westbrook was having his way with LBJ, getting into the lane fairly easily while Green was getting open looks off penetration from Westbrook.

Westbrook had a runout off a turnover that Gibson didn't stop penetration that lead to a Krstic And 1 that he didn't convert the free throw.

Finally Thebo got 2 pts coming off a curl screen and shooting over him.

Gibson wasn't as awful as the 2nd quarter on defense. But he changed the Cavs gameplan on defense. The Thunder took advantage of it. If Westbrook got by LBJ, he had Daniel Gibson trying to play help weakside instead of LBJ.

I'll hold my stance Gibson was awful for 3 1/2 quarters yesterday. You can't just look at what he did one on one defensively. Help defense, weakside defense, and defensive rotation all play a role.

The team missed Delonte on Russell last night. Not sure Mo does any better on defense vs Westbrook, but Mo wouldn't have been awful on offense for 3 quarters.

your not going to get an argument from me.

I was actually agreeing with you, but I will give Boobie credit for feeding Shaq in the post something no one else on the Cavs sees fit to do.

the worst of this is when Mike Brown tried to put Parker on Westbrook and Durant . . . we really miss Delonte and Moon when he tries crap like this

Why is LeBron always one board short of the triple double. Cmon man.:chuckles:

Well, I guess we know who is going to get player of the week:chuckles:

You know what sucks? Having my internet blocked by a mistake right before this game on campus. I just watched the game and wow!

What an epic finish, Boobie with the big 3 and LBJ with the monster block. Sure, if we played our ball we would have blown them out...but a win is a win and I will take it!
