Time for Camakazee's neat-o stats of the night.
Bounce Back.
One of the many luxuries from this season has been the fact that following a loss, the team usually bounces back and kills the panic threads quicker than the swiftest mod (no offense guys!). Going into tonight the Cavaliers were 11-1 in games following a loss, only losing back-to-back games once the entire season. This is undoubtedly one of their greatest feats so far in this very successful season. Here is a closer look at the accomplishment:
- The Cavs are now 12-1 in games following a loss, scoring an average of 102.7 points per game, while holding their opponent to only 87.2 points per game.
- In 11 of the 13 games after a loss, the Cavs have come out firing, winning the game by double digits. That means that 11 out of the 12 wins were double-digit victories (91.7% of the time).
- After losing back-to-back games against Los Angeles and Indiana, the Cavs have now won their last three games coming off of a loss. Here are some of the player stats from those three wins, including tonight:
Mo Williams (3 games): 27.3 points and 3.7 assists on 32-55 (58.2%) shooting, including 13-19 (68.4%) from three.
LeBron James (3 games): 23.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 7.3 rebounds, while shooting 14-18 (77.8%) from the free throw line.
Anderson Varejao (3 games): 10.3 points and 5.7 rebounds on 12-19 (63.2%) shooting.
Bringin' the Heat.
After the win tonight, LeBron now has his best regular season record (3-1) versus his good friend Dwyane Wade's Miami Heat. Here is how the numbers stack up from the season series:
- Cleveland Cavaliers: 98.5 points per game; Miami Heat: 93.8 points per game.
- LeBron James (4 games): 31.8 points, 8.0 assists, and 6.5 rebounds on 42-79 (53.2%) shooting.
- Mo Williams (4 games): 22.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.3 assists on 29-56 (51.8%) shooting, including 12-23 (52.2%) from deep.
- Delonte West (4 games): 14.5 points, 4.8 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.8 steals on 19-42 (45.2%) shooting, including 9-19 (47.4%) from three.
It's very nice to look back at the season series and see how the contributions of the Cavaliers backcourt helped drive them to a 3-1 record against Miami. West and Williams averaged a combined 36.8 points a game to go along with their combined 9.1 assists and 7.5 rebounds on a ridiculous 21-42 (50%) from three. Furthermore, with Mo, Delonte, and LeBron starting all four games, the 1-3 combo averaged a combined 68.6 points per game on a total 90-177 (50.8%) shooting.
- LeBron also collected his fourth triple-double of the season tonight. The Cavs are 4-0 when he accomplishes this feat on the season. Furthermore, they are 17-4 when LeBron gets a triple-double in regular season games (3-0 in the postseason). Here are his numbers from the games in which he has recorded a triple-double this season:
LeBron James (4 games): 20.8 points, 11.5 rebounds, 11.0 assists, and 2.0 blocks on 22-48 (45.8%) shooting, including 36-44 (81.8%) from the stripe.
And on the Seventh Day...
After grabbing a win in San Antonio, the Cavaliers opened up a five game stretch in seven days, beginning on the sabbath. The seven day stint, which included two back-to-backs turned out to be a success, as the Cavs ended up going 4-1. Here are some notables from this week:
- LeBron James (5 games): 25.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and 7.2 assists, going 14-27 (51.9%) from three.
- Mo Williams (5 games): 24.0 points on 41-73 (56.2%) shooting, including 19-26 (73.1%) from three, shooting better than 50% from the field all five games.
- Delonte West (5 games): 11.4 points and 3.2 steals.
- Joe Smith (2 games): 8.0 points and 5.0 rebounds.
- The Cavaliers averaged 8.6 steals per game and shot 43-86 (50%) from three.
- The Cavs won four out of the five fourth quarters, averaging 25.0 points per game in the fourth to their opponent's 21.4 points per game.
View from the other side:
- Despite a fourth quarter ejection, Dwyane Wade played a solid game, scoring 25 points with 12 assists and 8 rebounds. Wade averaged a gaudy 29.0 points, 10.3 assists, and 6.0 rebounds in his four games versus Cleveland this season.
- The Cavaliers held Miami to 14 first quarter points, their best first quarter defensive showing since they held San Antonio to only 13 points over a week ago.
