Help with PS3 Online setup

I could use some. I hooked up the ethernet cable to my network device, I went to Network settings on the PS3, did all the mumbo jumbo and went to test the connection and it fails everytime.

Am I missing something here? Do I need to purchase anything extra to hook up this PS3 online?

I don't have a wireless network device. Just the highspeed box with ethernet connections.

Ok, this sounds like you have to mess with the IP settings on the console.

Thats what I had to do like 2 years ago for the older consoles. And I had to do it often...which was a bitch.

So, Look in the IP settings of the console and all those Internet options.

And if we can't help you here, you should call SONY*
