Talk of Bill Cowher possibly coming to Cleveland to coach the bumbling Browns is not something most fans of either the Browns or Steelers take lightly. It's no secret the two teams have had one of the most bitter rivalries in football for decades.
Cowher was born in a suburb outside of Pittsburgh in 1957 and later in life spent eight years coaching the Steelers and brought them a Super Bowl title in 2006.
With so many ties to Pittsburgh and the Steelers, why on Earth would Cowher want to come coach his former team's arch enemy? Has the NFL become so business oriented that no legacy or tradition is safe from being tarnished by it? Or has it always been that way?
It's terrible to think that this historic rivalry could possibly be so easily watered down.
Whatever the case, if Cowher were to come to Cleveland there would be no shortage of mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, you have one of the better, most successful coaches the league has ever seen. On the other hand, you have a former object of hate for die-hard Cleveland fans managing their beloved Brownies.
Then again, the prospect of Steelers fans watching as their former idol coaches their long-time nemesis against them could be an appetizing thought for some more devious members of the Dawg Pound in Cleveland.
It's anyone's guess whether the deal will take place but if it does, things should get pretty interesting in C-town.
