CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Indians have traded infielder Andy Cannizaro to the Chicago White Sox for cash considerations.

The Indians announced Thursday that Cannizaro will be assigned to Charlotte, Chicago's Triple-A affiliate. He was batting .269 with one homer and 19 RBI in 50 games at Triple-A Columbus.

Cannizaro, 30, was selected by the New York Yankees in the seventh round of the 2001 draft. He has also played with the Tampa Bay organization.

What the heck are we gonna do without Andy Cannizaro??? :(

Why do they want a 30 year old below average aaa hitter with no power for free much less pay us any money for him? I dont get this move by the whtie sox. He has 9 career at bats at the mlb level, is already 30 years old, and is way south of .300 in double a ball.

Maybe he slept with someone in the white sox orginizations daughter, and they are going to make his life a living hell for the few years he has left in minor league baseball? :dunno:

Who even is that, never heard of him

That's the first trade we have gotten the best of all season...:)

'Cash considerations' can be as little as a dollar. In fact, many times, that is what it is. Or enough to cover lunch the next time the respective GMs meet. With Jesus Merchan finally coming back from injury and Jason Donald entering the fold, time in the infield for the Clippers has become sparse. The team was just doing Cannizaro a favor and sending him to a team that will find him some playing time.

The Pirates bought someone this year for a dollar, as well. Delwyn Young

Basically I think the waiver wire was Nationals/Mariners/Padres/then Pirates(may have just been national league though), and the Nationals must have not wanted him and the Dodgers didn't want him to go to the Padres

I remember that one guy who got traded for some bats.

Im pretty sure he killed himself though.

Woah, guys.

Woah.
