I just got finished watching the 6:00 Sportscenter, and as they were going off the air, they (Davis and Greenberg) confirmed that James Laurinaitis is coming back for his senior season at Ohio State. If I come across a link soon, I'll post it unless somebody beats me to it.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Two-time All-America linebacker James Laurinaitis said Monday he will stay at Ohio State for his senior year.

"After a long thought process and strategic evaluation of the pros and cons of this decision with my close family and friends, I've decided to stay at Ohio State," Laurinaitis said in a statement issued by the school.

Laurinaitis, a 6-foot-3, 244-pounder from Hamel, Minn., won the 2007 Butkus Award as the nation's top linebacker and the 2006 Nagurski Award as the top defensive player in college football.

The Big Ten defensive player of the year this past season, he set a BCS championship game record with 18 tackles against LSU in the Buckeyes' 38-24 loss, their second in a row in the title game.

Laurinaitis, the son of WWE professional wrestler Animal from the Legion of Doom, led the Buckeyes with 121 tackles for the season.

Most NFL mock drafts have pegged Laurinaitis as a high first-round draft pick. During Ohio State's preparations for the game with LSU he had batted away questions about what he would do next season.

"I know I can still improve as a player, and I know there is still much more to me and for the Buckeyes to accomplish," he said. "I want stay a Buckeye for another season. You only get to do this once, so I want to take full advantage. There are a lot of things that money can't buy, and some of those things are the experiences of a senior season."

Coach Jim Tressel disclosed in December that he had urged 13 juniors to file the paperwork with the NFL to receive scouting evaluations to determine what round the players might be taken in this spring's draft.

So far, only second-team All-American defensive end Vernon Gholston has said he will give up his senior year to make himself eligible for the draft. The deadline for third-year players to declare their intentions is Tuesday.

Looks like Gholston is the ONLY junior coming out. Robiske, Jenkins and Boone are all coming back.

Only major players the Buckeyes are losing: Barton OT, Freeman OLB, Gholston DE.

Bucks have Wilson and Hayward returning at ends, and Freeman and Homan returning at OLB.

Ohio State beats USC we will be in the title game in 2008.

Awesome news...wish Gholston would have stayed...I don't think we can lose 3 NC's in a row..:uhh:

They'll really have to earn a NC big next year. Not taking into account the soon-to-be voter bias against OSU, they have the away game at USC, and road games against arguably the two next best teams in the B10 in Wisconsin and Illinois (Michigan non-withstanding).

How about a W in a Bowl Game before they go to another NCG?

If they are one of the top two deserving teams to go to the NC game next year, they cannot be punished for previous seasons. I think they'll have to win out to make it.

If they win out, they get another shot...and they'll have earned it.

Scheduling USC non-conference gives you that right.

By the way...

I know when we scheduled Washington, there were a top 10 team and a national powerhouse. I'm pretty sure we scheduled Texas when they were 4th and had Roy Williams (the WR). Now, we have USC.

Yeah, we had KSU and Akron. Really - what's the difference between scheduling a 2 win team vs a 4 win team? IT DOESN'T MATTER! Either way, an OSU type school will blow them out of the water. OSU has one huge non conference game a year, and then plays WISC, PSU, Illini, MSU, and UM.

Fact of the matter is - we can't schedule a team and know they'll be good when we play them. Not our fault.

We win out we're going back for that crystal football...

Winning out pretty much seals a NCG unless theres 3 BCS conference undefeated teams
