Good for you for recognizing it. Boozer was a fan favorite here, for obvious reasons. But when you look at what he did here:
He did more than score off putbacks, he had a decent 18 footer.
He grabbed rebounds with tenacity. There is a reason why we were the best rebounding team when he was here, then dropped to 15th when he left. His 11 rpg means a lot more than you think when his replacement grabbed 9. He did benefit from having Ilgauskas next to him, but he did well to fit his role.
His name was Boozer. Come on! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOZER was a great chant.
Defense was an issue. He wasn't a shot blocker, but his size would have made him a more tenacious interior bruiser than Gooden. Under Mike Brown, he would have definitely flourished into a decent defender.
But in the end, I'm more than happy with what we have here and never think for a second what it would be like to have Boozer now. We have Anderson Varejao and Drew Gooden, you cannot ask for more. Not to mention the acquisition of Donyell Marshall. Our frontcourt is solid, no doubt about that, and it's going to be like that for years to come.
