Bucknuts Radio Hour (with game preview): http://www.bucknuts.com/news/story.php?article=26

Let's start things off with some up to the minute stats:

* That Ohio State is now both #2 in the nation in rush defense and #2 in the nation in pass defense, which makes them
* #1 in the nation in total defense.
* As well as #1 in the nation in scoring defense. At 6.6 points per game, nearly 3 points better than #2 rated Kansas.
* Todd Boeckman is tenth in the nation in passing efficiency and his 16 touchdown passes has him on a pace to challenge Troy Smith’s record of 30 in a season.

...

· Weekly Wacky Stats: 1) Ohio State’s first team defense has now surrendered just 20 points in seven games for an average of 2.9 points per game. 2) OSU’s opponents have more total punts (65) than total points (46).

...

It’s been 1421 days since Michigan’s last victory against the Buckeyes in football. And 1322 days since they last beat OSU in basketball. And counting!

I'll be there baby! This one is huge to me since a bunch of my friends are MSU backers.

MSU 9
OSU 30

OSU is also now within one game of tying the Big Ten record for consecutive conference wins. OSU has won 18 straight Big Ten games, dating to that 2005 loss at Penn State. Michigan set the record for consecutive conference wins with 19 from 1990-92.
I don't like this...lol.

Defense gave up no points...blame the 14 on Boeckman forcing a pass and the o-line completely imploding..

The defense is stingy..if we can burn clock with Beanie, use Hartline like we did Gonzalez last year primarily as a decoy and to make first downs and go for the occasional homerun to Robiskie we should have a shot at running the table.

I can't wait to read the commentators say "Ohio State struggled with a mediocre MSU team."

With the exception of three plays, that's entirely untrue.

Buckeyes D is dominant.

This OSU D is insane. MSU had two good offensive plays all game, and they still only got 3 points.

Now the offense needs to get it's act together because the meat of our schedule is coming up, but our D will keep us in every game.

* Ohio State has yet to allow an offensive touchdown in five home games this season. Ohio State's defense has allowed just two offensive touchdowns over the past 20 quarters of play. They have allowed just four offensive touchdowns through eight games.
MSU had the #9 offense in the country, and the defense gave them three points. Seriously, how many TDs has the first string defense given up this year? One? Zero? They've allowed just 4 TDs total on the year, and 3 or 4 of them were against the scrubs. And a couple of times it was the opponents first string against our scrubs, like Purdue scoring with 10 seconds left!

Isn't the DE that broke his leg coming back soon? Rose has been doing a solid job in his place...but looks like the D will be getting tougher..

Rose is still second string. Cam Heyward has been starting, and is playing great. Remember the one play yesterday where he dropped into coverage and about killed the Spartan receiver? The announcers were going ape over the hit. The kid's just a true freshman, and to not only be starting on the top defense in the nation, but excelling, well, lets just say he's got a bright future.

No word on Wilson, the guy with the broken leg. He might not be back till the Bowl game, if at all this year. Stinks, b/c he was actually looking better than Gholston.

Good old Mr. Bucknuts came through for me, with stats on the first string defense:

# Ohio State is first in the nation in: scoring defense, pass efficiency defense, rushing defense and total defense. They are second in rushing defense.
# Todd Boeckman has moved up to seventh in the nation in passing efficiency.
# Michigan State was leading the Big Ten in total offense before Saturday’s game, averaging almost 450 yards per game. They achieved only 185 against the Buckeyes.
# The first team defense has now allowed 23 points in eight games. The offense has given up 16 (!), special teams have permitted 7, and the second/third teams have coughed up 24.

That means the first string defense is giving up 2.8 points per game. Less than a field goal! :chuckles:

And somehow pen state will rack up points like none other. Should be a good one.
