Thought I start a thread to see if any RCF's out there like to Ski/Snowboard. I just booked a trip out West for a Ski trip in February. I have been trying to lose some weight and get back into the swing of things, anyone have some good tips or workout ideas to get ready? I have started to work on legs more in the gym, and add more cardio but also love tips and advice.

Where are some of the top places you have been, want to go to? I am an above average Midwest skier so a below to average skier out west.

I would love to get this good:

But I am more this:

I would love to learn to Ski, but dont want to look like a dipshit.

YESSS

I started two years ago with some friends, started to get the hang of it...and now I'm really into it. Have only gone about six times though, so still not that great obviously. I want to go out west sometime, but I want to get good enough before I do, so that the trip is "worth it".

Going to Peak n Peek in a couple weeks, then Snow Trails, then Holiday Valley. Have also boarded at Mad River Mountain. Wanted to plan a trip to Snow Shoe this year but never did. Meh.

When I first went to PnP and Holiday Valley, I was pretty terrible, so I can provide better opinions after this year. If anyone is a bit further south of the Cleveland area though, give Snow Trails a shot, it's only a bit further than Boston Mills/Brandywine but it's a hell of a lot better.

I have like $900 bucks worth of new gear this year (new board, bindings, pants, jacket, base layers, gloves, helmet, maybe getting new goggles too) so yeah I'm pretty excited that it's getting cold. Also my boarding outfit looks incredibly obnoxious.

I'm actually flying out to Big Sky, Montana tomorrow morning for a yearly week long ski trip with a bunch of guys.

The place is absolutely incredible skiing wise. It's up there with the biggest ski resorts in North America (competes with Vail & Whistler for the largest area). But unlike the others, it's relatively remote and the mountain is not crowded at all.

Just look at that majestic fucker. A tram will take you to the absolute peak, and you can traverse down wherever your abilities allow. Riding that thing up the first time is a trip.

I'd highly, highly recommend it to anyone looking to plan a trip out west.
