Ah, I was thinking we'd have someone else too. LeBron... Z... Hell, somebody.

Snow is the veteran, Snow is the leader, I don't have a problem with this.

Your best player does not have to be your captain.

Yeah, but I was thinking we'd have more than one..

Who were the caps last year? Snow, and McInnis? Someone else too? Do we need more captains? Respect, leadership, talent, and experience go into captain appointments. At least that's what I think should. And I think that Snow should be the only one qualified with all those. Talent is a question, but he's shown his defense and sparks of offense to gain the respect to be the leader.

Ya know, I've been a basketball coach for going on 19 years now ...only four as a head coach ..and that was at the high school level. But, in all my years on the bench only one guy that I've coached for ever designated a player as a captain, and even that was more out of respect for things this kid went through in his personal life...

But, to get to my point ...I never really got the deal with a coach or organization designating team captains ...because I've always felt that players themselves will find the players on the team on theor own that they respect and go to for advise, and to basically serve in the capacity ..what a team captain's role should be for them individually. Personally, if I were to think to designate a guy as team captain, it would likely be spurred on by a feeling in me that we may have a very young and inexperienced majority of players on our team ...I'd want someone that would exhibit strong leadership and proper work ethic on the court and in practice,.,.but also, and maybe most importantly be able to pass on advise related to the big picture of the game that exist away from the court, practices, and structured team related events. A guy that leads a life OFF THE COURT, that is also seen as a good example.

On the Cavs I see two players that could fill that role admirably ...maybe three. They being Eric Snow, Donyell Marshall, and Alan Henderson. Guys that have been around, experienced alot, and have solid lives that they have lead for years ..both on and off the court. Even thinking as I go here ...Z would also be a good fit in that role. Although I could also say that lots of players may be uncomfortable in that role as well ...preferring to leave the whole issue 'untagged' ...where you don't actually ever designate a player as a captain and just let the natural social network on the team grow on its own ..

Personally, I prefer it happen naturally ...without the designation of tags on players like 'captain' ....I think, in most cases, things just take care of themselves naturally through the course of time players are together.

Thats sort of weird that we only got 1 captian, but Snow is respected through out the NBA and beyond because of the human being he is.

Eric may not have the talent as our other players do, but he's a verbal leader on the floor. He yells on the floor, and he directs the players on what they need to be doing.

During timeouts, I see alot of talking from Eric Snow. He looks like a coach in the making in my eyes.

Interesting to see alot of teams with no captains at all. Especially San Antonio.

lebron should be the team captain, age doesn't have anything to do with this, leadership does :king:

he's the king. captain is below king on the "in charge" scale.

eric has forgotten more about defense than any of the cavs know.

question: Will eric snow become a coach on the cavs after his career is over?

my vote is yes.

Yup, I hope he retires his last year so we can get some cap relief from the 8 mil he'll make that yera.
