Whatever, I guess I'm glad you feel "heard". If it makes a few like yourself feel better then the name change is what it is. What I won't agree with is that any part of what was the Cleveland Indians was derogatory towards native americans. To most of us it was quite the opposite and you people killed it. In a time when claiming to be offended and oppressed is in style I'm not surprised that the squeaky wheel got the grease. My question now is, will the likes of you finally shut the fuck up and leave us alone or will you find something else to be offended by?

Since I was in my early 30's (maybe before that.. I'm in my 50's now) I have found the caricature to be ridiculous and offensive...I have neither purchased nor worn any items with that logo in that time frame. I was a 10 year season ticket holder in that period, and frequently voiced my opinion that it was an awful, belittling logo and a poor choice of name. Things change...people change, and that is OK, They finally got around to "listening"...clearly I pushed them over -- good.

My apologies CDAV. It was a different poster who suggested home games be played in both Cleveland and Columbus. Of course I favor keeping all games in Cleveland. Columbus already has two major professional teams: Blue Jackets and Buckeyes. Yes, the Buckeyes.

Taking a name such as the Indians into the 2021 season should require the ballpark to be titled 'Not So Progressive Field/Stadium/Similar'


Also, since we're doing this, rip the damned bandage off and do it cleanly.


None of this season being 'Cleveland Generic Sports Organization' that is simply a copout and a sign of management with literally no creativity and decision making capacity.

Pick a team name now and hopefully we'll have a major league team with some talent worthwhile of supporting via merchandising and ticket sales come opening day 2022.

Your opinion should and does have as much merit as any other's. In fact, yours and a few other's opinions outweigh the rest of us which includes some native americans. You did assault me by ignoring my views or twisting them in the name of your PC agenda. So IMO(which should be as valuable as yours but clearly isn't) you can ride off on your white horse dressed in your social justice warrior outfit. You can state "Wow", play the victim, and act like I'm the one offending when in fact it is you. Never in all my time as an Indians fan did I think less of native americans because of the name "Indians" or the character known as Chief Wahoo, nor did anyone else. So what's your next battle? The Pirates? The Fighting Irish? Santa? Where does it stop? What can we expect you to be offended by next?

Listen, I'll root for this team regardless of the name, but I'll be damned if you're going to convince me that native americans were offended in any real numbers. It wouldn't surprise me if more were offended by the name change about to occur due to what is most likely a small group of white people bitching and complaining on the basis of misinformation because they don't know what in the hell they're talking about. But hey, it makes them "very pleased as to the name change".

This will be the last I comment on this subject. What's done is done. I just want to make it clear to any native americans that may frequent these boards that I never have had anything but respect for them and that the association with a professional baseball team was only viewed in a positive light by me and my family. I also hope that history isn't lost in a stupid political correctness agenda.

The next person who even hints at political correctness, whether the name "Indians" is offensive, how it personally makes you feel, etc., Is going to get a long vacation. Some of you got multiple warnings because of multiple posts.
