I've just recieved an email from a guy who runs a business thats tied into sporting events (nice way to put it). Anyways he was told that Anderson shoulder is taking longer to heal and he will be out until mid march and there is a possibility that he may not be ready until next year.

I have fired off 2 additional emails trying to get this "rumor" verified. I'll post more if and when I get it.

oh god, i hope you are wrong

I also hope that isn't true. Who could have predicted he would have injured his shoulder that extensively and that profoundly?

I have a good friend inside the organization who told me just the opposite a couple weeks ago. He said it was healing well and that Varejao would be back much sooner than had been reported, he thought perhaps by January 1. Ben, not to put your friend down, but mine is close to the team so let's hope that mine's right and your's is wrong.

Ben,
I'm told Andy is on schedule to return in January-Feb.

Brian Windhorst

There's one email back...still waiting on the second email I sent out.

Damn..

At least we're pretty deep with PFs, and have Henderson as a good backup center..

It is very disappointing having Varejao unavailable. Henderson though is doing more then enough to cover the void. He might not be as active (who is?), but Alan certainly is reliable.

Good to see Windhorst says Varejao is on schedule. I also hope aaronr's friend is right too.
Cavs can get by without Varejao but his length and active play would be a big help, especially against teams with longer PF's like Orlando with Howard and Memphis with Gasol.

He's actually ahead of schedule ...his range of motion last week improved to over 80% ..is what I was told. The past two weeks he's seen his most rapid improvement ..and...was told he may begin working with the team ..on a restricted basis ..soon.

"Cavaliers forward Anderson Varejao, who underwent major shoulder surgery in September, is back doing light on-court activities. He is on schedule in his recovery. The team hopes he can return by the All-Star break.

Varejao suffered a severe dislocated shoulder in August while playing for the Brazilian National Team."

There have been no setbacks. They will probably keep him out until the All-star break. The tear has healed and now they are doing a set rehab program to strengthen the muscles around the shoulder to prevent the injury from happening again. C-Webb had this injury early in his career and rushed back a couple of times only to have it pop out again. It is a set 5 month program and has little to do with how quick of a "healer" that someone is.
