I think he was on the level of Dellavedova, but didn't get the same opportunities.
Love the guy and his attitude but when you don’t get a huge amount of opportunities in 7-8 years and then the best opportunity for you on the open market is heading back to Europe is tells you that the majority of the leagues GMs and coaches agree w the usage he got here this past season.
The over eagerness to find things to shit on JBB for obscured the main point.
At the point that Koby secured Nero’s signature, he had not yet convinced Rubio too choose the Cavs and he hadn’t come close to the Mitchell trade.
Mitchell’s lead guard on ball dominance and the need to get him blended in early in the year superseded a need to guarantee Neto any set rotation role and Rubio’s return in January was a priority re acclimation as well.
So Neto’s lack of role had far more to do with moves Koby was able to make after Neto signed then anything else.
Could the coach have played him more? Sure. Would it have altered our season in any meaningful way. No.
And the rest of the leagues GMs and coaches apparently share that sentiment as well.
That said, Neto was fun, had great energy in the court and on the bench, and I wish him a great season back in the international game.
