I see posts where people have said "It's obvious SNOW doesn't know what he's doing" or "after AV comes back we can package DREW and SASHA/LUKE for a trade", "Z sucks".

Come on! This team looks pretty dang good as it is. When AV is back it will be that much better IMO. Unless we could get a PREMIER PG or CENTER (Yao or Nash)with a trade than I say leave it alone. This is a TEAM. It is playing like a TEAM. All the guys seem to be accepting their ROLES. Gooden has been a high point IMO. He is doing EXACTLY what we need him to do. SNOW as well. I can't see the advantage of (*% up the chemistry they have(and it can only get better). Besides, who exactly is an upgrade at these positions that we could REALISTICALLY get??

I would like to hear?

REALISTIC UPGRADES FOR THE CAVS?

PG
Center
PF

Everything is "realistic." It all could happen, with the right deals in place.

Snow is doing a fine job and won't be going anywhere. Had he not defended Francis, Ridnour, and Mike James well, then we would have problems. His strength is his defense, and if that is absent, then all he is, is a Damon Jones that cannot shoot. He can set up the offense once in a while, but he would be near worthless outside of his heart and leadership. We were wary because of how Tony Parker ran circles around everybody. We were worried that things wouldn't change, so it's alright.

I haven't heard a Trade Z remark. I've heard myself saying that his defense has a bit of room for improvement and that his offense should pick up quicker. But in no way am I dissatisfied to the point of demanding his removal.

And, after AV comes back, if a good trade looms around with Drew + Sasha for either a marquee backup center, then it's definitely something we entertain. Drew is still learning the ropes in the system and has had his ups and downs. Most of his scoring is through easy buckets by Hughes' penetration or putbacks. Any PF in the league can do this. His offensive talent is hampered by the fact that he's a 4th option in the starting lineup. And Sasha has been pushed back behind Luke, so his worth to us is low. If we can get a Mutombo-quality backup center, then it will be interesting. We don't know how much we can put into Henderson at the 5, nor Marshall, or AV. Things will become clearer down the road.

But I think everyone should be satisfied with how the team is performing right now. Win the winnables, and fight through the hard battles. The Spurs game, 2nd half was a disappointment.

i agree with you that this team is playing like a team and doing their roles, but im sure coach can get the team to play better within those roles...good points

Yeap. The team is definitely still in the learning stages. We've played 7 games so far in the season. There are 75 to go. Don't get your panties up in a bunch yet.

I don't see any trade scenario involving Gooden if he continues to play like this.. The stats aren't overwhleming but the defensive effort is obvious....

What many cavs fans have failed to notice is that Tony Parker has been running circles around absolutely everyone so far this season. After hearing how terrible he was in every finals series, I can understand why he is starting the season so hot. Snow ran into a man on a mission in San Antonio, but other than that he has consistently directed the offense fairly well and defended at a high level.

Tonights game will tell alot about how well Snow and Hughes can disrupt a backcourt. Gilbert Arenas has been absolutely zoned this year ...and will be a very very tough guy to hold down, or just disrupt a bit ..tonights game will be another tough test for this team ...glad it's at home ...

based on 82games.com, our best defenders so far have been LeBron/Snow/Z. LeBron has some real tests coming up in a few games with Iguodala/Pierce/Artest - we'll have to see how his defensive PER holds up over that stretch.

Well if LeBron is considered one of our top 3 defenders, 82games has a floored system. James has improved defensively from last season, but he is still weak on rotations, and does still get beaten individually often.

Well, its only 7 games in and he hasn't exactly been matched up against any elite players.

David West
Bruce Bowen
Shane Battier x2
Joey Graham
Vladimir Radmanovic
Hedo Turkoglu

Hedo is probably the most polished offensive player he has guarded and he did quite a good job on him. I don't have the stats in front of me but If I remember correctly Hedo took about 15 shots and made 4 (all 3pt shots).

Anyways my point is he hasn't been challenged yet but early in the season defending average to below average offensive players he has been rock solid. Thats what 82games goes by, what your counterpart did, not if you miss rotations or gamble in the passing lanes.

Of Turkoglu's 3 makes, I remember 2 - one was when LeBron rotated to another man, the defense didn't rotate to cover for him. The 2nd was while LeBron was out of the game resting. I don't recall his 3rd make.

After 7 games, LeBron's defensive PER is an impressive 10.3. He gets some big tests next week, let's see how that holds up.

im pretty sure bron was on mason when we played the hornets mostly.but i think his D is improving and the reason our D looks good is cause were communicating and rotating well.
