Prince Feilder requested an abritration because 6 million dollars apperently isnt enough so he wants it bumped up to 8. I dont get how pro athletes complain about not getting enough money. The hell they cant live year on 10 million. Allen Iverson once said that he isnt getting paid enough money to pay the insurance for his 44 cars. Shit son all you need is 1. Hell I could sit on the bench like Marbury and get paid 20 mill. Im wondering how they get paid more money than teachers or doctors. All the pro athletes do is play their favorite sport and get paid tons of money.

Im also wondering how they get paid more money than soldiers who put their life on the line every single day for each and everyone of us.

It's simple economics. There is a high demand for talented players but the supply is low. If you aren't going to shell an extra $3 mill someone else will.

*EDIT*: Lets not forget about the Owners. They rack in alot of dough but no one talks about them.

Exactly what he said^

There's way more qualified teachers, soldiers, and doctors then their are atheletes. Think about it too. It really falls off after the pro level. NFL pays a lot more then AFL or CFL. Along with smaller independent football stuff.

The better question is why do fans buy tickets for so much... to me it seems like they're being hustled. Especially Browns fans.

Now that's the key question. Salaries are as exhorbitant as they are because fans pay huge prices for tickets, concessions, and the like. As long as fans are willing to pay the high prices, the players will always make a ton of money. I personally haven't paid full-price for a ticket to a pro sporting event in probably 20 years, and I don't feel like I've missed out on anything. I don't have to shell out the big money for tickets and parking and food, and I get a better seat right here in my living room (instant replays, all different camera angles, game commentators, etc.).

You guys make some good points but still. How do these guys feel good about themselves while asking for a few more mill while millions of people out there are starving to death and are living without homes?

CEOs run companies into the toilet, thousands lose their jobs, homes and pensions as the result while they get golden parachutes and youre complaining about athletes??

If you knew what Cecil Fielder did to his son and wife you'd know why maybe he'd want every cent he could get.

^^Some CEO's deserve their $$

IMO if you're making your money within the laws of business the way it's run today, you deserve it, regardless of what anyone else thinks.

You're worth whatever people are willing to pay you. Whether you're a CEO with a reputation of turning companies around and leaving for the next project two years later, a professional athlete who wants every last dime his agent thinks he can get, or a gravedigger.

Whatever people are willing to pay you to do your job is how much you should expect to make.

Money talks. You all say you can live off a million dollars, but if you know you could get 2 or 3, wouldn't you try? Same goes with athletes.

This is a common conversation I have with a lot of people. I don't think anybody has ever said athletes deserve the money they get. It is just insane. They get paid millions to PLAY a game. Not WORK. But PLAY a game that they love.

How is Tarence Kinsey making more money the Barack Obama? How is Wally Z getting payed more than surgeons that save peoples lives? How is Jawad Williams getting paid more than people that work their but off every single day out the horrible weather?

It truly is ridiculous and amazing all at the same time.

I can't really complain too much because that is the way it is. But it does kill me with comments like Sprewell had (I have a family to feed or whatver). It also kills me how they milk every dollar possible.

My question, is when is it enough money?

I understand smaller type players leaving for more money. People say all the time, well you would take the money too. If it was a difference between like 2 mill a year compared to 4 mill a year, yea I would leave and take that 4 mil.

But if I was a guy like CC Sabathia (who already has millions and millions of dollars), I would have stayed. Is having the extra money he got really going to make a difference for him?

Like Jim Brown said about LeBron.... "I think sometimes you sacrifice money for living a happier life and that is what LeBron should do." He said something like that. I just don't get how people can be so greedy. If I had their money I would be giving away a ton of money to charity. I honestly think I would walk up to random people every once in a while and just hand them 10 grand. What a life it must be.

I know I said I can't complain too much, but oh well, I am just jealous I guess.
