Worst Sore Throat Ever

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I have the worst sore throat of my life right now..I've finally been at my job the 90 days required and will have full health/medical benefits as of Monday but I'm dying slowly right now.

I woke up at 5:15am this morning and it's the worst it's been, the sore throat has been accompanied by body aches, massive headaches which isn't normal considering I never have headaches.

I made two cups of hot tea, gargled with this Saltwater over the counter bottle that said it was supposed to leave you feeling refreshed, and it didn't, I gargled Hydrogen Peroxide just to try to kill some germs, I've been taking Vitamin C every morning as I believe it helps your immune system.

I took Alka Seltzer Cold Plus, it says it helps sore throat, body aches, headaches etc...so I figured that was pretty solid. And it was nighttime so hopefully it'll knock me out.

I'm also using Cepacol coating lozenges, but they aren't helping too much. Any old fashioned remedies or suggestions on medicine or anything I'd much appreciate, I hate this.
Holy Crap.....me too! I fit your exact description.......an im not kidding at all......... that is kinda wierd.......im probably going to lay back down now.......

The worst sore throat I ever had was tonsilitis. If you can see the back of your throat and there are wite splotches on them, you have tonsilitis. If there are streaks, it is strep. I have had mono before too, and that could be what it is. If thats the case, you need more serious medical care. Anyway you slice, you need to stop sucking dick and see a doctor, lol

They said I can't go to the doc until Monday, which does nothing for me because I work 10-6...

I wonder if they can like...put it on my tab until next week? I feel awful..I dread going to sleep :uhh:

They sped up the process and I can go tomorrow...don't let a sore throat go fellas, I should have had them speed this up earlier in the week and be on antibiotics already.

Thanks for all the ideas guys.

Heh, I went 3 weeks with a sore throat a couple years back. My throat was almost swollen shut, and I lived off soy protein shakes. Went to the docs, got lame antibiotics that barely knocked it down, and decided to just start taking my Sambucol..

<3 Sambucol

Best cold, flu, whatever viral infection you can ever get.

Avelox knocked out the walking pneumonia I got in March out after like 48 hours. Insane. Tamiflu is a good one for the flu, which I've only had like twice in my life for some odd reason.

Vodka...drink enough and it kills everything.

How many times have I told you ?? NATURAL HERBS kill all... I like Chinese secrets because they work the best...

Go to Vitamin World and get the following:

Fenugreek
+
Chickweed
+
Vitamin C

Boil some water, break the fenugreek pill into it, put some lemon and a splash of honey (pending there's no congestion-- if there is, just go with lemon)-- also, take a fenugreek pill...

VIOLA !!!! Instant relief and the beginning cure of the issue...

People always look for instant relief... Alot of those things are temporary and just put a blanket over the issue... I like to attack the issue and get rid of it...

Went to the Doctor Saturday, she immediately looked and said "strep". I'm thinking...umm wouldn't it be a good idea to let the culture come back first?

Of course not give me a steroid shot in the ass and some amoxicillyn and I'll be fine.

Well not so fast...it's Monday and I feel worse than ever, so I give the doctor's office a call and oh my test came back? Thanks for the call....oh it wasn't strep? Oh cool...come in, in 2 hours. Sure

I get to miss a nice 12 hour sleep shift tonight because doctors are ****ing incompetent. You aren't a PSYCHIC, you're a ****ing doctor.

Calm down there. The doctor was trying to treat you as fast as possible. The penicilian and shot in the butt doesnt harm anything, but they still took the culture. Visually it looked like streop. If the doctor was right, you had a 3 day jump on treatment. If she is wrong, no harm since they didnt know what it was for sure until the lab results came back in. I know you are cranky because of the sore throat, but dont blame the doctor for not going at the first sign of the sore throat. If you would have gone when this thread stated, you would be cured by now. Also, I have had strep and tonsilitis before. The one time i Let it go as far as you did it took almost a week to feel better. The longer you let it go, the longer it takes for the antibiotics to work. By waiting this long you worked against the doctor. The dotor was already behind by the time you actually went in. They are like a coach. They can only tell help you, in the end, you are responsible for your own health. Doctors are not miracle workers.

I would have liked to, but my 90 days with this company was just up and I JUST became eligible for health and medical benefits. In fact I don't even have any cards or any information, just a little ID number on a notepad.

I can't help being cranky, I just haven't slept more than 2 hours the past 4 nights and I have no appetite, I just need a place to vent and this seems like a good place. :(

How is that the Doctors fault? You would have been smart and bite the bullet to go in and pay $80 for a doctors visit somewhere. I would agree the health care system is messed up, but i think i warned this would get really bad if you didnt go get some antibiotics. I did the same the first time i had tonsilitis. I will never do that again, not worth saving $80 bucks. If you dont have it, I am sure the parents would have lent you the money to go see a doctor.
