Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland
I want to say why not get W&G to get Dan Gilbert to help. It's not like we need money. We just need a big voice to talk to the city. Is this realistic?

Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland
I wish one of us were Jack Bauer so we could just call the president of the United States cell phone and get this resolved within the next 30 seconds.
Since I'm not that person, I'll just call WKYC and submit a tip.

Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland
This is really upsetting news, especially right before the playoffs. We just got to send e-mails and question why they'll fight for a billboard from a giant corporation (the state stepped up to keep the billboard after threats that it was going to be taken down) but won't allow something made by the fans? This struggle and fight to put the billboard up will be well worth it once it's hanging up.

Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland
It's possible someone could get a hold of a state representative or a state senator, sometimes if you get tangled in red tape with the local government, the state government officials can help you out.. I aspire to be in state government some day, and just by talking to a few state representatives, they spent a lot of time on constituent service anyway..
It's worth a shot.. I'm not from the area, but if you wanted to send a polite message over to a state representative of that district, it might be helpful..

Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland
I have exited the Lurk session to let you know I emailed her about this. Absolutely terrible the fans of cleveland want to express to LeBron how much they love him and want him to stay but the city of cleveland has to put a last minute stop to it!?!?!? Do they not realize LeBron is the only thing pumping life into this lifeless city!? Outrageous i say we contact all news stations and the Plain dealer with complains about this issue. If the city of cleveland looks bad enough on TV they'll put the banner up just to save face.

Also Maybe if you have enough attention drawn to it you could get News Channel 3 or 4 5 8 to donate money to have the digital version on the Digital Billboard on 90. They can't shut that down due to materials.

I found something interesting here(I'd also read the part on Wall Murals, maybe that could apply).
Well, I didn't find it....my cousin found it...but he's in law school so it's all good
The City will not govern..
(i) Works of art that do not include a commercial message;
So, is there any way to cover up the advertisements from RCF, ILTH, etc...and just display the art work with "Born Here, Raised Here, Plays Here, Stays Here"? I think if you do that, then you might not even need a permit. I don't know if that would count as a "commercial message".

Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland
Called WKYC and spoke to someone at the news desk (was polite and professional)
Explained the situation and our frustration as a group. Years of brainstorming, work and monetary donations from members. Told her that we just wanted to get the news out there and see if anything could be done about the decision.
Sounds like she needed to speak with a site admin though, she mentioned something about a release. Told her I couldn't help her with that, but our admin's obviously have their contact info and will probably take the appropriate steps to get the story out there.
Nice woman BTW.

Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland
That's interesting...however, Glen said that the reasons given to him were 1) sign size and 2) material
2) material - if Glen is correct about his assumption of the Nike sign being the same material...then I have no clue why this reason was given.
1) size....here is some info on that:
I don't exactly understand the bolded, however.(a) No combustible wall sign shall exceed 100 square feet in area except that temporary wall signs may be of combustible material as specified in Section 3113.16.
(b) Noncombustible wall signs may include combustible parts to the extent specified in OBBC.
(c) Parts of wall signs which are less than 7 feet 6 inches above a sidewalk, alley, walk or other public thoroughfare, shall project not more than 6 inches beyond the street or alley line or setback or specific building line; above that level, a wall sign shall project not more than 12 inches over public property or over a required front yard or side street yard.
