You don't want them knocked down too far. We need them to improve to get our pick from them. The perfect draft order, after ping pong balls are pulled, would be 1. Cleveland, 2. New Orleans, 3. Sacramento. We'd have the first two picks in the 2nd round. Sacramento would have the chance to add additional "top of the draft" talent to help pull them out of the bottom 10 teams.

Hopefully the Kings would draft Drummond so he takes a couple of years until he pulls them out of the bottom of the lotto. I would much prefer the opportunity to get the #10 in 3 years than the opportunity to get #14 next season.

In that sense:

Ideal pre-lottery for 2nd round position is 1. Bobcats 2. Hornets 3. Wizards 4. Cavs

Ideal post lottery for 1st round position is 1. Cavs 2. Kings etc...

The Heat are intending to sit their starters tonight against the Celtics, which will probably lead to the Bulls clinching the #1 seed in the East. The Bulls still have something to play for in terms of clinching the #1 seed overall, so we'll have to see where things stand on Thursday night.

While it would make me feel a hell of a lot better if Chicago gave a full-on attempt to beat us on Thursday, I'm not sure we can beat them even if Rose, Deng and Boozer sit out. They have an absolutely stellar bench. Let's say it is our current group against John Lucas/CJ Watson, Jimmy Butler/Ronnie Brewer, Kyle Korver, Taj Gibson and Omar Asik...

Do we win that game even with Kyrie? And, they are also unlikely to sit their whole starting lineup. A couple of those guys will likely play. I don't think we are beating Chicago.

It is going to come down to Washington, imo.

It's blasphemous that the Kings are where they are record wise. They have Tyreke, Cousins, Thompson, Jimmer, and Thornton. That is so much more talent than the Cavaliers have, they are continually in the top 5 of the draft. Absolute sham of an organization. When Stern is picking the teams positions in the lottery he should knock them down a few pegs.

The weird thing is they are only 6-12 against the East, a virtually identical percent to their 15-31 against their conference, so it's not like they'd be above the tank logjam if they played 48 East/18 West games. (We actually finished a respectable 8-10 against the West.)

The conferences actually appear closer than usual this year, although the standings appear that way overall largely because Charlotte has acted as a massive "loss sink."

Can't agree with that. Look at the past drafts over the years. Not much of a difference between picks 10-14. Guys are usually hit or miss in that range.

I just hope that we get it in a year that the draft is stacked, whichever year that might be. Next year is supposed to be the "year of the center"... but we might take care of that with our own pick next year... or even our own pick this year (Drummond? Davis if he's still growing and we're lucky?)

Eh. Don't see why it matters when we acquire a good player. If anything, I'd rather have the player now so the young guys could grow together over time. Regardless, I just hope we see it some time. Kings have been so terrible for so long, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we never see it.

Actually, I was thinking that we'd use it 2-3 years from now as a trade piece to get get that piece that puts us over the top. It'll have similar value as Golden State's current draft pick, which was a large part in the Deron Williams trade.

It could get us a 3rd scoring option type of veteran.
