Re: What are the Cavs going to do at C?
Ironically, you have hit on exactly the strategy from the Cavs point of view in the proposed trade. Cavs move a player that they know is not in their long term plans, but may be desirous to MIA 1) because of the unique talent blend Gibson brings to their lineup, but more importantly 2) The desire of the king with no crown to re-uinite with his harem (I'm sure a reconciliation can be arranged.) This second item would create the leverage for a deal that Riley normally wouldn't make, but MIGHT make to placate the crown-less king.
Also:
I should state that I would actually trade Gibson one-to-one for Pittman if the lapsed CBA allowed. Gibson, who has proven to be an unreliable player is-what-he-is: a 6-2 SG. This is a luxury not available to a rebuilding team. Ultimately , the difference between Gibson and Miller is that Miller is an established NBA STARTING SG/SF. Gibson will never be this; he should not be considered a core developmental piece and should be moved for developmental assets [a DEVELOPMENTAL center prospect such as Pittman.
I think Samardo Samuels is a good developmental player.
"injured much of last year" --CommD
Miller = $6M; Roy = $19M [!!!]; Gibson = $5M
And finally, it rude to forbid someone to speak.

Re: What are the Cavs going to do at C?
Mike miller hasnt played mroe than 55 games in two years. get off his jock. Miller had a -8 per.
hes done its over. he would give the cavs a contract they dont need for a guy in decline.
gibson merits more value than a guy like Pittman who hasnt shown or proven a thing and isnt really an upgrade over any center we have on the roster.
pittman couldnt even lead his teams in rebounds at texas and he was rarely open for shots. He isnt even the best prospect out of the d league.
Gibson meanwhile brings you a starter caliber player off the bench who plays with intensity and improves the team offensively and defensively when he is on the court.
Acquiring pittman doesnt give the cavs anything they dont already have.
and my roy suggestion was a joke . a bit of an exaggeration of the idiocy you not only proposed but are strongly advocating.

Re: What are the Cavs going to do at C?
Are there any legs to this Boobie & filler to Miami -for- Pittman & Mike Miller swap or this just something manufactured by a poster on these boards??
Pittman or no Pittman, I think it's HIGHLY unlikely that Dan Gilbert would sign off on any trade that would help LeBron James win a championship. Pittman's pretty much a fringe prospect and Miller is signed for 2 years beyond what Boobie is, so what's the attraction for the Cavaliers??

By the way, no trade machine consulted. Not interested in this diversion.

Re: What are the Cavs going to do at C?
I'm all for taking a chance on a young C but Pittman hasn't shown anything to make him worth taking on a bad contract or give up any value for him. You only take a chance if you can get him very cheap. He's far from a sure thing. Just played 11 minutes in 2 games last season and averaged 14.5 pts and 8.2 reb's in the D league. Didn't exactly dominate there either.
It's very doubtful the Cavs will make any move that could help the Heat too.

Re: What are the Cavs going to do at C?
Gibson does not want anything to do with LeBum. I doubt LeBum wants anything to do with Gibson. These two do not seem to care for one another at all. Don't send Gibson to Miami, Gibson has been a class act don't reward this by sending him to LeBum's team. Dealing Gibson is fine, I figure Boobie wants to win, so send him to a contender not LeChoke's team. Give Boobie a chance!!!!

Re: What are the Cavs going to do at C?
I don't see the Cavs taking on Mike Miller's salary unless they get a better prospect than Pittman. The rule changes in the NBA have made players like Pittman something for the history books, and that's assuming that he doesn't eat his way out of the league.
I also don't see the Cavs picking up any more players of Pittman's talent level while Erden, Samuels, Gee, Harangody, Eyenga, and Harris are still on the roster. After all, Pittman was a #32 pick and the Cavs already traded that away this summer.Last edited by Douglar; 07-17-2011 at 10:58 PM. Reason: typo

Re: What are the Cavs going to do at C?
The NBA lockout isn't the only lockout that should take place..some of these trade proposals need to be locked out also.
The fact is no matter how good any player on the Heat is..Gilbert isn't about to sign off on a trade with that team UNLESS it is absolutely factual the Cavs get the best end of the deal..and even then I'm not sure he does that.
