Re: Cavs Trade Deadline (discussion)
Why was Rashard Lewis not amnestied? Seems like he was the poster-child for Amnesty along with Arenas.

Re: Cavs Trade Deadline (discussion)
If New Jersey really believes they can sign Dwight Howard in the summer then I'd take Brook Lopez and their unprotected first round pick along with their worst contract for Jamison's expiring. Wishful thinking.

Re: Cavs Trade Deadline (discussion)
apparently this guy is an intern at ESPN cleveland so take it with a grain of salt....(also not sure how this would work with Portland not being able to trade their 2012 pick)@g_force19
Rumor of Cavs getting Gerald Wallace and Crawford and blazers 1 for sessions and Jamison

Re: Cavs Trade Deadline (discussion)
Crawford and Wallace both have player options so they would likely bounce after this season

Re: Cavs Trade Deadline (discussion)
let me get this straight, portland is going to trade gerald wallace (who they gave up 2 first round picks for), jamal crawford, and a first round pick for sessions and jamison (when they already have an all star power forward in LA)?

Re: Cavs Trade Deadline (discussion)
With Gerald Wallace and Jamal Crawford Miami and Chicago would be shitting themselves thinking about playing us in the first round.

Re: Cavs Trade Deadline (discussion)
That trade doesn't make much sense to me. Wallace and Crawford are better than Sessions and Jamison. Why swap them and give up a 1st?

Re: Cavs Trade Deadline (discussion)
i can understand the sessions part of the trade, maybe for their first? they really need a good point guard, ray felton sucking major ass this year. but wallace and crawford for sessions and jamison?? we would be literally robbing the blazers.

Re: Cavs Trade Deadline (discussion)
That trade would be almost as lame as that Milwaukee one.

Re: Cavs Trade Deadline (discussion)
There has to be more to this than what one would normally expect out of a typical NBA owner and a typical NBA trade deadline. This year, with Dan Gilbert as owner and with a new CBA, and considering the relative success of the team (and DG's commitment to both being competitive and having a well-planned rebuild), I'm inclined to think that Gilbert's willingness to take on salary will result in two consequences - usually not paired with one another.
1. The Cavs will take back bad contracts with more talented players than they would be sending out (these more talented players would have the albatross contracts). This would make the Cavs more competitive (assuming Jamison, Sessions, and other players are those being traded) while relieving the financial burden of other teams. This would perhaps result in the Cavs' making the playoffs and missing the lottery (or, being more competitive, missing the playoffs, and drafting late in the lottery).
2. Though the Cavs will become more competitive from the more talented players acquired in the trade (and thus, lose draft positioning), Dan Gilbert/Chris Grant will acquire a lottery pick with those bad contracts (re: the closest thing you'll get to the Baron Davis trade) to compensate in continuing a successful rebuilding process.
That's my guess. Cavs get more talented players back with awful contracts (re: Ben Gordon replacing Ramon Sessions, Gerald Wallace replacing Jamison, etc - whatever it may be), are more competitive as a result, Dan Gilbert gets his playoff appearance (or 'respectable' team) while at the same time making sure the roster is built through the draft (in acquiring a lottery pick as collateral for the bad contracts).
Who knows - a domino is going to have a fall at some point though, right?
