Re: My recent encounter with an NBA legend
Last night, Jerry spoke again. I just thought I'd share a little bit more. He talked about his childhood and growing up. His father was an alcoholic, so he and his father never really had a relationship. Jerry's parents eventually divorced. After Jerry was saved, he repeatedly reached out to his father. One day, he was going to speak, and the whole week before his sermon, he called his father every day, asking him to come and listen to him. His father repeatedly said no. So the day of the sermon, Jerry came to his dad's house and said that his father had two options: He could either voluntarily go, or Jerry was going to carry him over his shoulder. His father went, and he broke down in tears and gave his life up to the Lord. His parents REMARRIED, his dad never touched another drop of alcohol, and they were married for another 20+ years. Christ LITERALLY brought his family back together and made it whole again. What an amazing story.
