Yeah, I'll give you that. You guys gave them a fight last season. They're up-and-coming, though, and should be better than last season.

I'm not trying to shit on everyone's parade, but I'm just saying that it's likely that you could end up with the #1 or #2 pick next year.

Btw, I got a chance to look at the schedules, and I think the playoffs are gonna set up like this:
    AFC
    1 New England
    2 Pittsburgh
    3 Houston
    4 Denver
    5 Baltimore
    6 San Diego
    --------------
    7 New York Jets
    8 Cincinnati
    9 Oakland
    10 Buffalo
    11 Tennessee
    12 Kansas City
    13 Indianapolis
    14 Miami
    15 Jacksonville
    16 Cleveland

    NFC
    1 Atlanta
    2 Green Bay
    3 Philadelphia
    4 San Francisco
    5 New York Giants
    6 Detroit
    --------------
    7 Chicago
    8 Carolina
    9 New Orleans
10 Dallas (and they'll want Romo out)
    11 Arizona
    12 Tampa Bay
    13 Washington
    14 St. Louis
    15 Seattle
    16 Minnesota

They should be better, but they are the Bengals and perhaps the most inconsistent team in the NFL the last 7 or 8 years. Remember two years ago when they were supposed to compete for the division with TO? Remember last year when they were supposed to win 2 games if they were lucky?

I do think Richardson will be the best back in the AFC North from the start (Rice is good because of the system he plays in). I could see a little leighway in the argument, but they schedule is BRUTAL.

The schedule is brutal compared to last year's production. It remains to be seen what half these teams will look like after the season starts, who gets injured, etc.

I think the Steelers are going to have a significant drop this year. The defense is getting really old, they are changing the offense into more of a ground-and-pound style, and there are rumors that there is a rift between ownership and Tomlin, and this may be Tomlin's last year as HC.

At first glance, and assuming Shurmur's offense doesn't evolve, 4 wins seems right. But I expect our defense to get stronger with another year of experience under Jauron, and I also expect an influx of talent and Chilly weighing in on the offense to boost our offense up to a below average but respectable level.
I've been nothing but complementary of Weeden.

We always have such low expectations, and rightfully so, but cmon. Bengals were supposed to be just as bad as us last year but made the playoffs. I just think our very young D is only going to get better, (one of best CBs, have 2 DTs, 1 DE, MLB and OLB set) and our offense clearly needs work, but that's what this draft is for. Richardson, Wright/whatever WR at 22, and you have your impact RB (best in AFC North IMO) and your compliment WR to Little. Get a RT to fix the hole we have on that side. Our D IS going to be better, same with the offense.

I think the rest of the teams are going to have a drop off (Bengals are always so topsy turvey, although Green and Dalton look like a good combo. Still not that good though) in the AFC North with the Ravens winning it, but I just think the Browns need to be given a chance. If last years Bengals can make the playoffs, so can this year's Browns.

I know they're the Browns, the bottom feeder Cleveland Browns, but we are going to have strides this season. There's no way we don't barring serious injuries. We played tough last season, I believe our biggest loss was 18 points to the Titans? We played the Ravens tough, and the Steelers down to the wire, same with the Bengals. We weren't getting demolished, and that was w/o Hillis.

Just give them a chance. 10-6.

    Eagles
    @Bengals Finally beat them.
    Bills The Bills...
    @Ravens
@Giants Always beat the SB champs.
    Bengals Beat em again.
@Colts Outside of Luck they are DEPLETED.
    Chargers
    Ravens
    BYE
    @Cowboys
Steelers Our time to shine, and it's in Cleveland.
@Raiders They aren't that good either.
Chiefs ^, plus we get to beat Hillis
Redskins Will be a pretty good team eventually, but not this year. Browns W.
@Broncos Don't think Manning will be as good as he used to. Still very good. But not the old Peyton.

You see. I don't. They got younger as a whole by letting Ward, Hoke, and Farrior go. The schedule looks favorable for them as well. Assuming they fix the secondary and O-line in the draft, I can absolutely see them as a division winner.

Baltimore and Cincinnati are puzzling. On one hand, Baltimore has a tough schedule and Cincinnati has a young team. Both could reach 12 wins, or both could only hit 9 wins.

The Browns, I'm sorry, but are gonna have a tough time this season.

Philly, Dallas, New York, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Cincinnati, San Diego, Denver are just significantly better.

I'll give the Browns their two patented "how-did-they-pull-that-off? wins", but I think 5-11 is their ceiling.

Thats just it. It doesn't start now. With this much time last off-season, the Browns were starting to play games. They had a new coach with a new offensive scheme trying to wear two substantial hats. This team will be better going into this season because they have a legitimate opportunity to gel as a team. They also have the benefit of being able to use last year's mistakes to help them address weaknesses. They may not be great talent-wise, but with a full off-season, I'm going to guess that crap like the "trick play" against Cincy wouldn't have happened.

Full off season. Our young talent will be developing and improving. McCoy is still a young quarterback, and hopefully a full off season in the system he can improve on his play from last year, which shouldn't be too hard considering how bad our offense was. We will be able to open up the playbook more as McCoy gets more comfortable in the WCO. Greg Little will be improved. Our first year head coach will be in his second year and have a year of experience under his belt. We will actually have an Offensive Coordinator this year. Our young D-Line will be improved after a year of experience. We will have Ward back in the secondary, Jackson back after getting paid.

Essentially, it is hard to think of a scenario (barring injury) where the Browns are a worse team next year than this year. I was saying this before the Redskins got RG3, and that was my reasoning for why we should trade up; i cant envision us being worse with the young talent that we do have. I see us being at least an average team this upcoming year.

It's not that the Browns will be worse; because they won't. It's just that the team below them will have gotten better (sans Minnesota, St. Louis, and Jacksonville) to the point where they won't need to pick #1-4 next year. Couple that with playing in the toughest division in football (could argue NFC North, but I think it is) and the toughest NFC division, and you find yourselves scrapping just for a few wins.

And teams above them will get worse. It is a two way street. Your post basically says that everyone except the Browns will get better and thus the Browns, standing still, will by default be the worst team in the NFL. On top of that are unpredictable injuries (i.e. Manning). Detroit is one rather typical injury to Stafford away from being atop the draft again.

The NFC East is a crapshoot. every team in that division is extremely inconsistent. the eagles have all the talent in the world but with vick at the helm will never be able to get their shit together. the skins suck. people forget how inconsistent the giants were during the season this past year. they were 6-6 to start the year and New York was calling for Coughlin's head. The cowboys are the same story.
