1 more combination for the top 3. Basically secured the odds of the 3 slot were we to NOT get top 3, as opposed to losing the toss which would give us the odds of the 4 slot. Basically gives us slightly better odds at top 3 and significantly better odds at top 5.
Less chance of sliding to 6/7.

We a pre-slotted 3rd now, so if two teams jump into the top 3 we would fall back to 5 instead of 6.

It's been answered like 6 times already man.
The winner of the flip not only gets the extra combination in the case of an odd number between the two tying teams. More importantly, it determines the order should the teams not move up any higher.
So for example, say that all of the teams in the lottery go in the precise order they are projected: Charlotte 1st, Washington 2nd, etc. That means since the Cavs won the flip they are at 3rd. The flip resolved the tie. So the order (assuming nobody moves up) is: CHA 1st, WAS 2nd, CLE 3rd, NOH 4th...(I don't know how the other flips turned out yet).
