So I'm going to be in a situation where I have to get a new car soon. Now I'm no Rlaw and I'm not going to buy a retardedly expensive car because I don't have to overcompensate like he does. I'm just looking for a car that will get me to and from work with good gas mileage. I also prefer to buy American, but that's just a preference of mine that I can get around if necessary.
One car I'm looking at right now is the Chevy Volt. It's fairly expensive, around 42 grand. The reason I'm attracted to it is because it comes with a $7,500 tax credit and is truly an electric car. Apparently you can drive the first 25-50 miles on the electric battery alone. If that's accurate I could theoretically go to and from work on no gas. That's huge for me. My job will require me to do some driving to other branches on occasion, but it won't be a regular necessity of mine.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks.
