I wanted to move this discussion out of the thread on the tragedy today. This question was asked
3 requirements to buy a gun
- pass gun safety training
- pass mental health screening
- pass drug testing
then a periodic review of all 3
register the guns with the people who buy them and make those people liable if crimes are committed with the weapons registered to them unless they are reported as stolen before they are identified as being used for those crimes
Also, the violence problem associated with both the drug war and prohibition was a gun violence problem.
So what is your suggestions to prevent that from happening? Make it "illegal"? How is that going to stop people from selling them privately? How was the drug war worked out? What about prohibition?
