At least Melo had the decency to tell the Nuggets (a team in a state he had no birth loyalty to) he didn't want to play for them so they could flip him for pieces
People keep saying this about Melo, but the only thing I ever heard from him right until the end was that he hadn't made up his mind and that Denver was definately one of the teams he was going to consider signing with.
The only thing different about what happened with Melo is that James happened first, and Denver refused to just sit there, let things play out, and lose all leverage over the situation.
