People need to get the whole Varejao to OKC out of their head lol
I'm not all for the "gotta have saints only on the team" theory, but Cousins is a special kind of sketchy, and there would have to be TONS of due diligence before that kid gets brought here.
Plus I'd fear a difficult contract situation in a year or two with him
The fact that some teams are scared off may actually help come contract time.....less suitors. You have to have a bit of good fortune to build a championship team, and this may be that chance. If you can trade TT and a low/mid first, I do that every time. AV and DC man the 4 and 5 spots. YOu now have Eastern Conference all stars at the 1, 4 and 5, with a developing rookie at 2. Plus, you have cap space galore and a ton of picks. An AV deal (ie, OKC) could still be in play, or not. AV and DC on the front seems formidable.
This guy just said hed trade waiters, tt, and next years first for Demarcus Cousins. Just thought that should be pointed out.I only see one possible scenario where ending up with Cousins could be a (very) good thing. It's actually somewhat realistic and along the same line as what's already being discussed elsewhere, but it would require both of these trades to happen:
Typical proposed OKC trade: TOR 1st, Perkins for Varejao. Lamb/PJ3 or anything else in return would only serve as a bonus in this scenario.
Trade with Sacramento: Cavs (or TOR) 2013 #1, TT, Gee for Cousins + a filler/bad contract. If need be, give them the rights to their #1 and add Waiters into the mix.
Again, both trades would have to take place in order for this to (hopefully) offset the cancer of a teammate that is Cousins. If the OKC deal were to happen first, we'd have the option of replacing the TOR 1st with our own if need be. Hell, I wouldn't even mind parting with Waiters (or Lamb) and tossing a #2 to OKC if it assured both of these would happen. Most of us would agree to make the OKC deal regardless, but in this case Perkins becomes almost as valuable as the TOR pick by playing the role of a hard-nosed vet who could set Cousins in line whenever he acts up. Combine Perk with Byron's presence and the upside of playing next to a budding stud in Kyrie -- I don't think we'd have to many issues with keeping Cousins' attitude in check.
Potentially losing Dion would suck, but this is a scenario that I could actually see working out in our favor in spite of that. Kyrie and a disciplined Cousins would be a deadly 1-2 combo; with lotto pick next year and insane amounts of cap space, I'd say we'd be in a great position going forward.
It would take a hell of a lot of luck and likely verbal agreements from the offices of both parties, but it's slightly plausible. I'm partial otherwise. It would be great to have a big of Cousins' caliber, and I think he'd be relatively happy anywhere not named Sacramento at this point, but we'd probably have to give up too much to counter the glaring risks, barring everything previously mentioned.

Then their asking price is far to high. Id suggest that even if cousins were a model citizen he still wouldnt be worth the last two drafts number 4 overall picks and this years lottery pick. Not for a center who still hasnt sniffed 50% shooting in his career.Of course I wouldn't do that straight-up and bare the risk of Cousins ruining our locker room. In case you didn't read everything, it would be completely contingent on an OKC deal as well, meaning we'd have a monster vet presence in Perkins, as well as a top-5 pick in TOR's. So we'd basically be at: Kyrie + Cousins + 2013 lotto versus Kyrie + Andy + Dion + 2013 lotto. Given we're trying to move Andy anyways, I'd bank on a sure-fire combo in Cousins/Kyrie and whatever player we draft next year over our current situation. As much as I wouldn't want to lose Waiters, it would free up the option of Goodwin, Shabazz, or McLemore without interfering with current commitments at the same position.
Do you think Sacramento would let Cousins go for anything less, anyways? If so, you're sadly mistaken.
Regardless, it's not like this would ever happen, nor should any play for Cousins happen without a guaranteed influx of veteran presence. Just fun to think about.

Wait.. Did you mean to quote my post? I'm saying that Tyreke Evans is an issue on Sacramento as much as Cousins. Yes, I would prefer Kevin Love too, but that is an Amare Safari waiting to happen, IMO. ray:
