Super Bowl 47

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Strawman argument. It has nothing to do with whether the officials blew it.

The officials didn't blow the game, the 49er's players did.

Maybe not throw a two yard Pat Shurmer pass on third down outside of the endzone? Then a fade route that was arguably not even catchable. With the offensive player pushing on the defenders face mask. You don't make a PI call there with the game on the line, sorry.

Oh so when the game is on the line you're allowed to whatever you want and you throw the rulebook out the the window?

I got 2:1 odds with my friends that the ravens would win straight up. So that was a good no call.

If I didnt make money on it... I probably would be arguing the contrary.

Actually, the ball was perfectly thrown. It was right there if the receiver isn't delayed by the hold. I think you need to invest in a new pair of glasses or something. You make the call when it is so blatant. You let incidental contact go. They blew the call. It was so obvious that the announcers tried like hell to try to cover that it wasn't called.

i think thats what bothered me the most about the play was the absolute stretching the announcers were doing to make it sound like it was totally okay. call it what it was, a horrible blown call at the end of the super bowl that had a huge impact on the winner of the game. call the NFL out on it, call the officials out on it, dont make it seem like it was totally okay to mug a guy at the line of the scrimmage, past the line of scrimmage, and while the ball is in the air

Hey, it helped the niners get there. Just ask Roddy White.

You get away with extra physical play in the last minutes/seconds of most competitive sports like football and basketball.

It's kind of ironic that the refs do this in order to not control the outcome of the game, but by not calling blatant fouls they control the outcome of the game anyway.

Regardless, that safety won me a bunch of money, so I can't complain too much. :)

Jim harbaugh is a great coach. He'll have to work on the outbursts when shit doesn't go his way. It comes off as a tantrum and a bit childish. I know he's a passionate guy but he's got to calm it a little when dealing with what he thinks is a good call or not in the middle of games.

Answer the questions. If the 49er's scored a touchdowns in the first half, would they have won the game? Did the 49er's play a full game? Did they abandon their QB running the ball after the Ravens went up by a few points?

Dude, they could have made any number of calls against the defender on that play. The refs dropped the ball on that play, period, just like they did earlier in the game on that blown OPI call against the Ravens. Just because the commentators (who were terrible, by the way) wanted to try and make an excuse for the bad officiating doesn't mean they are right.

Hard as this may be to believe, sometimes games are indeed won or lost by bad officiating. Look at the Seahawks-Packers game as just one example.

You can't argue with the playcall. They were supposed to have a fair shot at the endzone on 4th down. They got robbed.

The ball was absolutely catchable. Stop it.

Offensive player was pushing to get free of the BLATANT HOLD.

You make a holding call there whether the game is on the line or not. It's the rules. They become even more important when the game is on the line.

And the 49ers didn't blow anything. They got down big early. One could say that the deficit was a wake up call and helped them rise to the occasion. Runs are a part of sports. They had an awful first half. The Ravens got thoroughly outworked in the 2nd half. It's called momentum, and it's part of the nature of sports.

What the fuck is this trash? I'll answer them for you.

If they would have scored a touchdown in the first half every single thing in the game would have been different. You don't just add 7 to the score in hindsight. It would have changed the complexion of the game. An early Niners TD could have prevented the Ravens from stepping off the gas a bit later, etc. Horribly stupid question.

Yes, the 49ers were on the field for 60 minutes. Another fantastic question.

They abandoned their QB running the ball? I forgot you can just do whatever you want with no regard for the defense you're playing. The Ravens were doing a good job containing Kaep and the gameplan forced him to throw the ball. It's not like Harbaugh just decided, "Hey guys...the Ravens scored. Let's not run the ball anymore." Awful.

You're just being a hipster and it's painfully obvious.

Sounds like people just wanted the ravens to lose. Crabtree was holding jimmy smith as well and they played that way the whole night. The pass interference was earlier when Crabtree was pushed in the back in the endzone.

What about the horrible running into the kicker call on the missed Akers field goal? He fell with no contact. And the roughing the passer missed call on flacco(late hit on the sideline). There were missed calls everywhere. The refs missed calls for both teams. The 49er players have no one to blame but themselves. Objectivity please.

Completely agree on most of these points... The Optomist is just a terrible debater. It isn't the conclusion that is important. It is the argument.
