The 2013 Men's NCAA Basketball Tournament

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think Matta had a bad game. I don't think I've been over-the-top bashing him. I've defended him from crazy attacks and I like Matta but I think he had a bad game in the elite 8. He had a roster that was a lot more talented and lost.

I don't think he really had poor game. I can't really think of any boneheaded moves on his part. Really the only thing he could have done is pull his team to the side and ream them. Tell them to stop playing 1v1 ball and move the ball on offense. That was the big problem. There was no ball movement and everyone tried to play hero ball. They jacked up stupid jumpers, tried to take everyone off the dribble and ended up turning it over, etc. Matta probably did say something similar to what I said, we'll just never know for sure. There's only so much a coach can do really.

Bottom line is OSU just didn't have that one go to guy to get them a bucket. They were ice cold tonight and without that guy there wasn't much they could do. Thomas having foul trouble didn't help matters. Craft also played like an idiot and had his worst game of the season (in my opinion). I think he was frustrated by Wichita's D, but that doesn't excuse the absolute moronic plays he made this game. It's like he started believing his own hype. Dude, you're a defensive specialist, quit trying to be Kyrie out there.

I still think OSU beat themselves more than Wichita did. Not putting them down at all, they played a good game and deserved the win. I just think OSU played some of their worst basketball of the season. Actually they've played pretty poorly all tournament long. They just got lucky with weak opponents and some timely last second shots.

Yea I didn't mean to make anyone mad, it did come off really terribly. If someone said that about a team I really cared about that just lost, I would want to punch them in the face. I literally didn't even have Ohio State on my mind one bit, and was just thinking about WSU so I kinda forgot this is primarily Ohio State fans.

I don't know if there is one in Ohio, but in-state rivalries are the worst. Well, I guess maybe Browns and Bengals? But the whole K State vs KU things is pretty bad. I'm a KU fan and have been one since a kid, but I'm really just not super into college sports to be honest, so I really don't get into that whole feud or get offended by it. But WOW is there some animosity. On Facebook and Twitter when K State or KU lose, there is tons of fights and it gets pretty personal. I think its kinda funny actually. And Wichita State is literally like the only peacemaker in Kansas right now. Both K State and KU fans are cheering for Wichita State. Harmony at last.

And I swear I will never mention Wichita State again in here. Even if they won the national championship (which won't happen), it would be tough but even if they did I won't make a post about it.

I still want to self ban myself though, so lets see how long I can hold out.

No, don't do that. Just give it a day and then get right back behind your Wichita State team. Not like I'd be pulling against them now that they have already beaten us. Heck, I'd like to see them win more games at this point. Put on your whittle Shocker's cap and go rah rah.

Wichita definitely isn't as talented as OSU. They don't have any nba talent on their roster, Ohio State has a couple guys paired with some pretty other heralded recruits. If Ohio State lost to Lousville or Duke it would be so much easier to stomach. For the first 30 minutes of the game Ohio State was playing and taking the shots Wichita wanted them to take instead of attacking the basket.

And I don't disagree. But aside from drawing up a play or yelling at them, what could he do about it? They got outworked.

It seemed to me like Ohio State felt like they were going to come in and just flatten Wichita without breaking a sweat. Maybe a coach can't control that feeling but Ohio State but more should have been done. When you look at the rosters, OSU had the better team. Can we chalk it up to OSU just playing a bad game or is some blame on coaching? OSU lost as the top overall seed in the sweet 16 two years ago and would have lost with Oden and Conley in the round of 32 if the Xavier player could have made his second free throw.

I don't like ripping on Matta too much, because I think he and the team had a good season. I think he, along with the team, had a poor game though. In my opinion it was clear Matta got out-coached this game. I still don't understand why Matta took the press off when it got them back in the game, Wichita wasn't able to handle the game being sped up, and Wichita nearly had two 10 second violations.

When you shoot 27 percent field goals and 17 percent 3s, you are going to lose to any above average team.

I think those were the percentages the first half.

I appreciate one guy sticking up for me, I really do thank you, but I can see where I went wrong. I was excited Wichita won and it just came off wrong. The thing that does piss me off though is that everyone did view me as some troll that just created an account to come in and make people mad. I can feel the hate. Really, thats how I'm viewed? It is called realcavsfans and I am a Cavs fan. Obviously all the other Ohio teams are supported too, which I sometimes forget, but I thought it was primarily for the Cavs.

It might have been blown out of proportion or whatever, but I am honestly gonna give myself a little self ban here. I really don't feel like posting anymore.

Please don't pull an Emo [Insert guys name who left the forum cuz a few of us gave him shit, I seriously forget his name]. You're too good of a poster for that. And no, I'm not gonna lick your balls. You acted a little goofy and you owned it, that's great of you and everyone is satisfied, let's move on. No need for self bans and dumb shit.

I'm willing to bet most of the people cheering for Ohio State in this topic are neither from Columbus nor former students of OSU. Just saying.

Not that it really makes a difference, and not that I am speaking for everyone, but I am a former Ohio State student and was a fan well before I was one, anyway. That's just how I was raised. That's how a lot of us were.

JK11, no harm done. Probably could have been worded a little better but I assumed, like others, that you were an OSU hater that was just coming in to rub salt in the wounds, especially considering that the vast majority of this board is OSU fans. Copious amounts of alcohol may have also played a small part in my post. ;)

As for the game itself, the Buckeyes once again came out flat in the beginning and just assumed they could come back. They were bound to get burned by it eventually. If it didn't happen against WSU then it was going to happen against Duke or Louisville. Once again, there was suspect officiating in this game, but you're not going to win any games when you commit stupid fouls or shoot as poorly as they did. Not only that, but they just kept trying and trying and trying and trying to shoot themselves out of their perimeter shooting slump, probably in part because Wichita was getting away with some very physical interior play on top of some good shot blocking.

Overall just a putrid game and they still almost pulled it out. Not bad for a team that I didn't even think was going to make it past the Sweet 16 when the tournament started. If this same team can stay in tact for next year then they are really going to be a force to be reckoned with, I think.

Tennis is cutting it waaaay too close here...c'mon CBS!

i think it's time for an adjustment

like, maybe stop letting the white dude take the most valuable shot on the court excluding layups/dunks. hes kinda good from that range.

With the emergence of McGary as a dominant inside player, Michigan is the most talented team in the country. When everything starts clicking....whelp this is what happens. In a matter of just a few weeks after McGary became a starter he became arguably the most dominant forward in the nation. Add that to Michigan's backcourt and look the fuck out.

I liked McGary very time I watched him this season and could never figure out why he was only playing 15 mpg. Whatever their strategy was with him, it worked, he's killing everybody right now.

Florida has been slowly coming back the last 5-6 minutes going back to the first half. Burke has played pretty poorly so far in the second half. The white 3pt shooter for Michigan has been the difference really. 6 threes already.
