Re: #19: Sergey Karasev
So we pick based on what's best for other teams? Didn't know that's how it worked.
Do you know what a fallacy is? Nothing about what I'm saying is illogical at all. It is a fact that the pick was available and had been for over a week. The order of the pick was not relevant as they didn't even keep the pick, they traded it, and then drafted (at 18) a player they aren't planning on keeping.
They wanted no talent from this draft whatsoever, and they'll be keeping no players.
It's like you're blind to the fact that the trade was there and the Mavericks did not want talent in return, it was a pure salary dump. To say Boston had only offer the Mavericks would've accepted ignores the assets we could've moved including the future Sac 1st rounder, which we might not ever see, but has more value than the 2nd rounders that Dallas won't even use.
And what did we ultimately get out of the 2nd round?? Nothing.
Again, they didn't care about draft order or talent. The Cavaliers didn't trade for the 13th pick because they didn't want it. There man was Karasev and the writing was on the wall that he'd be there at 19.
And if you're thinking of asking would I have traded the Sac pick for Muhammad, the answer is I would've at least worked the fucking kid out to make a plan before the draft. Maybe we take him, maybe not, but we didn't. I don't think Grant wanted anything to do with him whatsoever, even though we had two picks, and I think that's why Boston traded with the Mavericks and not us. He was never on the Cavaliers board, not at #13, not at #19.
I also believe the many reports floating in the media that says the Cavaliers not being able to make deals was because Chris Grant tried to play hardball and it backfired in his face.
p.s.
Marion wasn't opting out of a $9M deal, no matter what he says. He's not getting anything close to that in his next contract. But that's another discussion entirely.
Agreed, Minnesota, with a pass first PG and a gaping hole at SG and SF is a far more ideal situation for Muhammed.

It's also just a fallacy for Gourikmo to put claim that we "passed on him" or "could have had him" if we wanted, regardless of whether Muhammed goes on to be an all star or a bust.
