2013 NBA Preseason Game 3 -|- Bobcats @ Cavs -|- October 15th, 7:00PM.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He was as out of shape looking as the last couple of games. I can't stand when guys get injured and let everything go to hell. It's not like he was posted up on his couch 24 hours a day.

He needed to take this opportunity a little more seriously with a proper diet in order to maintain a decent weight. There's no need to hit any panic button anytime soon but he has been incredibly frustrating to watch getting back in transition and even sliding his feet away from the free throw key to meet his man on the block.

There's nothing wrong with feeling a little disappointed that our #1 is looking like he's trying out for "The Biggest Loser" and not a starting rotation spot. It was avoidable to a larger extent than people realize. I'm also somewhat disappointed in the organization for not keeping tabs on his conditioning. I'm still excited to have him but the season is right around the corner and he won't be in game shape for a few months best case scenario.

I think Bennett's doing very well considering the situation. In three pre-season games:

MPG: 21.7
PPG: 10.0
RPG: 6.3

Tristan Thompson in his entire rookie year:

MPG: 23.7
PPG: 8.2
RPG: 6.5

I'd say he's doing fine for just 3 games after a major injury, and for a rookie. He'll only get better in my view.

Heck, TT this pre-season:

MPG: 25.3
PPG: 11.7
RPG: 6.7

I think he will lose the weight over the next couple months. Many young athletes have poor eating habits, and put on a ton of weight when they are injured. He would be wise to go heavy on fruits and veggies as a main source of his diet as he gets into better shape in the next 4-6 weeks.

he has a personal chef.

I'm disappointed in Dion tonight as well. Offensively he's doing decent but he's showing little to no effort on defense. Surprised MB hasn't taken him out of the game yet.

Dion hobbled back to the locker room after the game. Hard to tell how he got hurt during the game...

...got to meet Mark Price after the game........

I've seen several posts about the Cavs practicing today...before a game?

just got done puking after watching that shitty basketball game.

it's obvious our guys are tired, Bennett in particular.

Bennett will rise to another level once his conditioning is right. Right now, he's Dion from last year.

I deleted various back-and-forth message about game streams, none of which should be in this thread to begin with.

There is a Game Streams thread (http://realcavsfans.com/showthread.php?15716-Game-Streams-TV-Coverage). There is absolutely no guarantee that streams there will work, nor is there any guarantee about what their links might do. All stream requests should go there from now on. We have no control of them. Could be unreliable. Could be legally questionable. Could be spam monsters. Even so, more posters have asked for or posted game stream links than have wanted them deleted, so we have left them up. If you don't want to use them, don't use them.

Putting all game stream talk into the game stream thread would be appreciated in the future. That's the way we run things during the regular season, and I guess it's the way we need to run them during the preseason.

He's not as out of shape as he was looking tonight. He wouldn't have fouled out in 19 minutes if he were fresh. The practice took its toll on him. He wouldn't have looked great out there, but it wouldn't have been foul-out-in-19-minutes bad.

But he is still a far way away from where he needs to be.

Yeah I wasn't saying it as a knock on him. He just isn't near game shape. I was prepared for it by maxs comments. You can tell that he doesn't have the juice to play d or o at this point. I really like some of the flashes he has shown so far. I am not worried at all. I am reserving judgement for when he looks like he can handle running up and down the court. He doesn't look like the athletic player in the highlights yet. I am surprised he has done what he has so far.

Sims did some nice things, but he has one major weakness. He can't catch the ball cleanly, its always bobbling about ruining his chances to get some easy buckets off penetration

Wonder why the cavs had a full practice on game day. Brown must have wanted them to lose.

My first thought is always on the side of 'mike brown knows what he's doing'. to that end it might be possible that he is trying to accelerate the team building process by adding a degree of conflict and duress. The model is forming, storming norming performing and the quicker you can get to storming (providing the team leader has authenticity in the eyes of the team) by doing some unpopular things and creating some frustration the quicker you can get them to air any underlying issues and get back to work.

This was a teaching game, and better to have those now than in a months time.

If what everyone says is true and Mike Brown is intentionally wearing out his guys before the game...then that's a fairly sophisticated approach considering I'm sure there are some guys on the roster who don't even have basic sets and principles in his system down yet.

In preseason games when no one's playing more than 20 minutes or so, it's easy to go all-out on D the whole time. But these guys need to be sharp at the end of the fourth quarter in a close regular season game when they've been on the court for 30+ minutes already. Having practice before the game was a good way to simulate the kind of fatigue they'll experience in the regular season. This seems like a good sign to me. Brown is happy enough with where the Cavs are defensively that he's ratcheting up the difficulty already.

I think I might have an idea as an un-knowledgeable fan for the reasoning behind the practice and flat liner.

Brown saw problems with their execution and hustle.
He might've need to speed up their game shape a little.

Otherwise, he's trying to get them ready for regular season at the sacrifice of these meager games. They'll look at least 10 times better when that time comes. In fact I don't expect much completely at the beginning once more, but maybe 10-15 games in, we may look beautiful if we haven't quit.
