Mine is

1. Hire Kenny Smith as GM and Steve Kerr as head coach (assuming we fire Mike Brown)

3. Trade TT, Zeller, Kerasev, 2014 1st, and 2015 Heat 1st to Minny for Love

4. Sign LBJ, re-sign CJ, and go after Josh McRoberts of the Bobcats and Mike Miller as backup SF

Kyrie/Dion/LeBron/Bennett/Love

Bench Brigade:
Delly, CJ, Carrick, McRoberts, Andy, Miller

So you trading Dion or keeping him?

If Love is truly on the market, a team like Boston could offer a top 5 pick in this draft + multiple future firsts + young picks. That top 5 pick though would be the key and trump what we could do.

What's your perfect offseason....

Not what you think will most likely happen.

And Love would promptly leave in a year because that Boston team would be worse than the Wolves team he's on now. Trading Love to a rebuilding team is not going to happen. He's going to have to go to a team that's either already good or ready to make a leap.

After that travesty of a season...Q implosion

Alright, I'll bite, even though I'm pretty sure I'm breaking NBA financial laws with this offseason. :chuckles:

1. Fire Mike Brown; Hire Lionel Hollins to a 4-year contract

In the last three years of his tenure in Memphis, Lionel Hollins led the Grizzlies to three straight playoff appearances in the powerful Western Conference with a team lacking a true superstar, including a trip to the Western Conference finals in his last season. Hollins led some great defensive squads as well, anchored by defensive guards Mike Conley and Tony Allen, along with a true defensive anchor in big man Marc Gasol. Lionel Hollins is the perfect candidate as an established coach to help lead this young Cavaliers squad to the postseason.

2. Draft Doug McDermott with the ninth pick in the 2014 NBA Draft

Doug McDermott would provide a 6'8'' wing that is capable of scoring in bunches, even if he wouldn't necessarily be a regular starter in his first season with the club. McDermott could help provide a lethal second unit scoring punch with Dion Waiters giving the Cavaliers one of the best bench squads in the league.

3. Sign Kyrie Irving to a max contract extension

Locking up Kyrie Irving for the near future should be one of the main goals of the Cavaliers front office this offseason.

4. Bring LeBron James Home

Bringing LeBron James home would be one of the biggest sports stories of all time and would also make the Cavaliers instant title contenders. With flexibility to play four positions, LeBron will allow the Cavaliers to be very creative with their lineups. Pairing him with Kyrie Irving, the first true PG he'd ever play with, would create one of the best 1-2 punches in the NBA.

5. Let Luol Deng Walk, But Bring Back Spencer Hawes and CJ Miles

Luol Deng was an interesting get for the Cavaliers this season, but his role becomes redundant with the clear upgrade of LeBron James, and makes him not worth the big bucks it'll take to keep him. CJ Miles and Spencer Hawes are two defensive liabilities that can score in bunches, and while neither of them are lethal starters, two floor spacers paired with LeBron James and Kyrie Irving in the starting lineup is just what this team needs. Hopefully Miles and Hawes could be kept for slightly lower prices with the prospect of competing for a championship.

6. Trade Tristan Thompson for veterans

Tristan-thompson-toronto.jpg

Bringing LeBron in makes the team title contenders, and with Spencer Hawes, Anthony Bennett, Tyler Zeller, Anderson Varejao, and LeBron James all able to play one or both of the big man positions, Tristan Thompson's role on the team becomes a bit unclear. With a potential pay day coming up for Tristan, it'd be a good idea to trade Tristan while we could still get something of value back for him. What LeBron-title contending team is complete without ring-chasing veterans? I'd trade Tristan Thompson to the Clippers for Matt Barnes and a draft pick/prospect.

7. Win the Whole Damn Thing

NBA-Trophy.jpg

This team as constructed is an easy title contender, and with Miami losing LeBron James, it would seem that only the Indiana Pacers are the only true threat to the Cavaliers in a still weakened East.

Point Guard - Kyrie Irving / Jarrett Jack / Matthew Dellavedova
Shooting Guard - CJ Miles / Dion Waiters
Small Forward - Matt Barnes / Doug McDermott / Sergey Karasev
Power Forward - LeBron James / Anthony Bennett
Center - Spencer Hawes / Anderson Varejao / Tyler Zeller

Unrealistic and illegal? Probably, but you asked what my perfect offseason was. :chuckles:

WHY DOES DION HAVE TO COME OFF THE BENCH? :(

WHY DOES DION HAVE TO COME OFF THE BENCH? :(

Doesn't really matter for my squad, but I just thought having him and McDermott together in the second unit would still leave a hell of a punch.

With Irving and LeBron in the first unit, Dion wouldn't get his fair share of shots, but he'd be the feature of the second unit.

Why does it matter? On that team he is a super sub and truly a Harden role. CJ gives spacing for Irving and LJ. We need to stop caring who starts. It is who finishes the game.

Lol, I was just wondering why you chose to do that. Doesn't really matter to me.

Dion spaces the floor too so that's a bullshit excuse. And if it doesn't matter then why not let him start? It's obvious at this point that it really means something to him.

Hire Jeff Weltman as GM, with Fred Hoiberg as HC.

Trade Thompson to clear the way for Bennett to start. That and I just don't like his game.

Trade Jack for anything.

Make a play in free agency for Lance Stephenson (transition to SF), Isaiah Thomas (back up for Kyrie & Dion) and Shawn Marion (back up for Stephenson & Bennett).

Don't know what I'd do with #9. Maybe package it with Tristan. BAP for me would be Gary Harris, but can't justify that with Kyrie, Dion, Stephenson, and Thomas on the roster.

And I just created the most undersized lineup in the league that probably can't defend, you're welcome.

1. Get rid of Jack somehow

2. Trade either Tristan or Bennett for some non-useless asset

3. Sign Channing Frye, 3 years 21M

4. Sign Thabo Sefolosha, 3 years 15M

5. Extend Delly, 4 years 12M

6. Draft Kyle Anderson at #9

7. Draft Isaiah Austin with our 2nd rounder

Lineup:

PG: Irving (36), Waiters (12)

SG: Waiters (24), Delly (24)

SF: Sefolosha (32), Anderson (16)

PF: Frye (32), Bennett/Tristan (whoever we didn't trade) (16)

C: Varejao (30), Zeller (18)

If we get outbid on Sefolosha, keep Miles for that role. If we get outbid on Frye, get Elton Brand for the minimum. Karasev and Austin find minutes in case of blowouts and/or injuries.

No blockbuster trades, but we bring in some solid mid-tier veterans who should give us some stability and a .500 record at worst.

When you look at LJ and Irving on the floor, there will be no ball free for Dion. CJ does not need the ball to be effective. Only way I would start Dion would be a KI, Dion, CJ, LJ, Hawes lineup. I think if Dion is getting 32+ mins a game he will be fine.
