I think the center the Cavs are trying to trade for is Brook Lopez.

If Griffin can make a second deal with the first round pick for a big, then I like the deal. Strengthened the bench and the starting shooting guard and provided us an asset to get a big which we obviously desperately need

Deal looks better and better.

So:

- Waiters is out. Waiters was not going to make this team anything. He only had his potential to go by and that honestly looks bad right now. Next year he would have wanted a contract anyway. Wasn't going to make this team any better. Also, glad I don't have watch that high arcing shot.

- Shumpert, you get a SG that you can start. Can play defense and you can bench Miller.

- JR basically takes over for Waiters. And as I said, worse case he's Waiters and best case he's motivated and is 6th man of the year type of player he's been many times.

- 1st round pick looks great now. Pretty sure it will bring a center to this team while still keeping Memphis pick+Haywood contract.

To sum it all up. We just got a starting SG, a 1st round pick and straight up exchanged Waiters for JR.

Heaven forbid they use the pick to draft a legitimate center. This FO seems to be allergic to doing that.
It is hard to find a quality center that late in the draft. It happens, but rarely.

It is why I and so many others were so hostile about the Cavs wasting high picks on small shooting guards and undersized PF's instead of taking a center which was infinitely harder to find and fill with quality.

Impossible unless you wanna trade one of Lebron or Love to do it. Not enough salary to match.

All shots at big money centers aren't possible now until the summer. Whoever we get now will be a lower pay player. Someone that can fit into the trade exception.

I'm just glad this thread can officially go into Around the NBA and we can stop talking about a marginally talented player like he was the next Jordan.

brook lopez and kevin love frontcourt and we might as well just play in the WNBA

Lets get Brook Lopez so we can have two centers cheering us from their wheelchairs.

This is bullshit.

In the last 3 years, there have been numerous centers available in the later picks in the draft.

We just barely missed out on Nurkic, there's been Vuvecic, Gobert, Dieng, etc.

Thanks Dion for being one of my favorite Cavs the last few years. The rising stars game and the buzzer beater against Detroit will always be two of my favorite moments from the 4 year rebuilding period.

Good luck in OKC!

What a great time to get yourself traded Dion, you were so close to 1,000 pages on RCF.
