This just really sucks and is BULLS HIT! Ferry won't get isht this year, next year, or the year after. Maybe he'll be able to get some expirings and first round picks for Lebron before he jets out!

Next season, Gooden makes $7 million and Williams makes $3.4 million while Bibby is owed $14.5. This deal has the Kings saving $11 million next year, while with Gooden it'd be $7 million. Williams isn't as good, but he's younger and cheaper (and potentially signed longer, if he does work out).

You have to understand the nature of the NBA trade market right now. Cap flexibility is the only thing that means anything right now. If you don't have it, you want it. If you have it, you use it by sending it to the people who want it. NBA trades are increasingly becoming less and less about the talent that is being exchanged and more and more about the money.

The Cavs simply don't have the flexibility to go out and add a major piece...... yet.

This indeed sucks, and if I'm a Sacramento fan, I'd rather have what the Cavs could have offered. Gooden and the $7 million to spend. Then again, $11 million a year gets you a big-time player, and $7 million don't. Just like the Kidd deal (and the Garnett deal, and the Gasol deal....) we didn't have what the other team had to offer: cap space.

Bibby wasn't going anywhere next year unless he was traded. So let's just stop with that now, eh?

What kills me is, the Kings didn't even unload Kenny Thomas and the $16.5 million he's owed over the next two years. I thought that was a deal breaker.

The Hawks got Bibby for a mediocre prospect and cap space- that's it. They didn't have to take back a bad deal and they didn't have to throw in any picks. Maybe they're trying to package Thomas with Ron Artest...

Lame.

Petrie used to be known as one of the most hard-ass, intelligent GMs in the league. Lately it seems like he's just becoming a hard-ass.

Negotiation at it's best. He was trying to force the Kings to move him. There was no way he was staying there. He could have gotten a nice mid-level deal in the summer, maybe more. He wanted out of there ASAP and by saying they wouldn't opt out and be stuck with his cap hit, they took the bait.

There is nothing you can show or convince me to believe that Bibby wouldn't opt out.

I know if it were me personally, I'd be dying to opt out of my 14.5M option to sign for the mid level exception starting out at 5M a year.

You can't be fricking serious. If I set 9.5M in front of you I bet you'd be convinced. No one's leaving that type of money on the table.
