Seems to me Aldridge signing with PHX presents the Cavs with the best opportunity.
By my calculation, despite the salary dump with Detroit, PHX is still about $5M shy of the required max cap space. That may be off a bit, but not much, I think.
I think the best trade, by far, is PJ Tucker and TJ Warren.
Moving these two players clears $7.5M for PHX, which should be enough to sign LMA to a max. They have to sacrifice Tucker, but retain Markieff Morris and Alex Len, who have greater value for them and leaves them with a very solid 4 man rotation on the front line. I think PHX would still be a very attractive option for LMA.
Real GM Trade Checker says this trade works.
Tucker is nearly an ideal backup for LeBron. Can play the 3 or 2.
Doubt the Cavs would be interested in an unproven player like Warren, but he is a young player who could presumably be dispatched elsewhere for a second round pick or two. Maybe Philly likes him?
Could also include him in a sign and trade with Charlotte for Mo Williams.
