I know it's early, but I figured he deserved his own separate thread to track his progress instead of losing it in the LeBron thread. New highlights came out yesterday. He looks like he has the handles of Kyrie and the passing and vision of LeBron. Which basically means he is already a better passer than Kyrie and better ball handler than LeBron :chuckle: Kid could be good.

Class of 2023, right? :chuckle:

Honestly, he looks incredible.
That vision is something you can't teach. That was definitely inherited from LeBron. And those handles are very advanced for his age. Like I'm not even kidding when I say he has better handles than LeBron already and they do look very Kyrie-esque. It's going to be crazy when he hits his growth spurt and starts dunking on people.

LeBron Jr. and Bryce both look like decent shooters already too. They are growing up with this Steph mania so that will probably influence a new generation of insane shooters. But imagine if this kid gets LeBron's size, hops, and passing to go with even better handles and shooting. It's going to be crazy. We are already seeing the handles and passing as very elite for his age.

Future Buckeye
That would be sick. But he also has the ties with Duke and Kentucky. Of course, one would imagine both of those coaches would be retired by then but you never know, it could still be an influence. But since LeBron said he would play for Ohio State and still supports them, I would say they are heavy favorites and LeBron would probably try to steer him there. Heck, maybe they will let kids go straight from HS to the league again by then.

Any chance the kid makes it into the leauge while his Dad is still playing? How old is he?
He is 11 or 12, and it is the class of 2023. That seems light years away but it really isn't. I really hope LeBron is still playing because I think he could be productive until he was 45 if he wanted to keep playing. But I at least hope he goes until he is 40 and shatters Kareem's all time record for points.

But assuming you give his kid one year of college, LeBron would be 39 I believe. It is going to be weird in a couple years when Jr. is probably killing it in HS and LeBron will probably get asked about it in interviews as he is still in the league. But that would be incredible if they could play in the league together, even better if both were on the Cavs ;)

He is 11. So in 8 years, he could make his way to the league. I remember thinking that when the kid was born, how cool would it be to see a father-son duo in the NBA?

Luckily the kid isnt towering over others now. He is able to develop a solid ball handling skillset, along with moves to finish around the rim. So once he grows up he will be even that much further ahead of those kids who relied on their size. Shooting look solid as well. Maybe he is the Luke Skywalker, and Lebron is Anakin? Perhaps Lebron Jr is the one that will bring balance to the force and not his father.

Im praying for that right behind a championship. I hate LBJ a lot of times, but having a Cleveland Cavalier as the all time scorer gives me a high unlike anything else. How special would it be if LBJ Jr passed to his dad for the record breaking basket?

I can already imagine the headlines with Jr. in HS. "Is LeBron the next best HS player since.....LeBron?". What if LBJ Jr. signed a huge deal with Nike coming into the league like his dad. Imagine the field day the Nike marketing would have with that regardless, but especially if LeBron is still playing. And how crazy it would be if LeBron had a farewell tour like Kobe and LBJ Jr. was there to witness it first hand being in the league or on the Cavs.

There is just so many crazy possibilities. I'm honestly surprised he looks this good already. I figure there is no way the son of LeBron could live up to even becoming an NBA player of any sort. And although the jury is technically still out, it looks likely already. When LeBron Jr. gets a little older, he will also have the advantage of pops connections. LeBron could probably hook up Steph and Ray Allen as his shooting coach. He can probably get Kyrie to work with him on his handles. He could hook up scrimmages versus NBA competition. And he has access to all the knowledge LeBron has amassed over the years and the luxury of learning from LeBron's past mistakes (which have really been few if we are being real).

Considering all that, I guess it shouldn't be a surprise they could become an NBA player, but it is never a guarantee. Even Michael Jordan's sons didn't make it to the league. I think it is easier for the kids that didn't have a superstar as a dad, but Jr. could break the mold and still get to a high level. If it is anyone's kids that could do it, probably be LeBron's.

I guess the ultimate fantasy is they win a ring together, it's LeBron's last year and he passes the torch down to his son. But even in a scenario where LeBron has been retired for a year or 2 and we end up having a down year, but we draft his son with a lottery pick to get back on track, even that would be incredible (although if LeBron was that close to playing with his son, I doubt he would retire a year earlier). Being in the league or playing together at all would be beyond incredible regardless, I just had the fantasy next level with winning a ring :chuckle:

The question is how good he will really end up being. Will he be a clear cut #1 pick type? A lottery pick? Late 1st or 2nd rounder? His name alone gets him drafted in the second round regardless of anything. But if he is a lottery pick and we are a good team, we would have to trade for him. I'd rather him be great on another team over a late 1st rounder or something where we are guaranteed to get him, but I really want him on the Cavs.

And yes, entertaining these hypothetical scenarios at this point is insane but just purely for fun. The fact he will be an NBA player is probably very likely reality though. Which in itself is kind of crazy to me.

Just better not trade our first pick when that time comes.

He's honestly one of the best kids I've ever seen play at that age. He has court vision that's way beyond his years.

He's impressive, but you really don't get a good idea about their pro potential until they are getting close to adult size. Around 16 they have matured enough to get some kind of idea about them. Others are really late bloomers obviously.

Here are some more videos I also want to put in here and keep track of just to show his progression so we can find them in one spot and look back in this thread in 5-8 years in the future:

From that newest video in the opening post, you can already see how much his handles have improved. These videos aren't that old either, I think that first one is from last year and these other ones are pretty new. I can't believe he has that good of floor vision and passing ability already at 11 years old. I'm not sure LeBron's was even developed to that level by that age. It's crazy. Calling it early, but I'll have a hard time believing he won't be a lottery pick when his time comes. When he hits his growth spurt, he will start dominating people.
