Mass Effect: Andromeda

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Sweet, still haven't finished the third one and don't think I want to based off of what I've heard.

Just get to near the end then stop and make up your own ending as it will be 100 times better

I think I got about 33% of the way through and one of my friends said something along these lines

The ending wasn't that terrible. Like, I get why people were upset by it, but I don't think it was nearly as bad as everyone is making it out to be. Disappointing for certain, but not a game breaker.

You should get up to 90 to 95% of the story and the dlc but just not do the last mission

I thought it was up there with the ending of Lost as far as all-time goal line fumbles go. It was just godawful in every way.

Perhaps. I think I'm looking at it from a perspective of "it's not the destination, but the journey." I found the game and the gameplay to be fantastic, even if the ending was lackluster.

The first game was just perfect to me and they got worse each chapter. Maybe when I heard that from my friend, I just put in my own confirmation bias and decided to just stop.

I think the "destination over journey" argument is a cop out that applies more to games like Elder Scrolls or Fallout. Those are open ended games that are all about the journey. Mass Effect 3 was an action movie, and an action movie needs an epic ending that we just didn't get.

ME3 was my favorite of the series, even with the awful, awful ending. Best gameplay, IMO.

I'm not going to sit here and argue that the ending was a good one, because it wasn't. However, I don't think the bad ending should ruin what was otherwise an awesome game with tight gameplay and some great moments.

I think that would certainly be true of a game with a mediocre ending, but I just can't say the same for Mass Effect 3. The ending made me never want to play the game again.

I find most games have pretty underwhelming endings. The endings like Metal Gear Solid 3 are few and far between. Mass Effect 3's ending was a whole different level of awful, though.

Agreed and it's mainly their own fault as they promised it would be more sophisticated but couldn't deliver.

Anyone know if this story carries straight on as Shepard or is it a different take in the same universe?

The story is that they're settlers launched into the Andromeda universe, so they don't know about the Reaper threat in the home galaxy.
