2017 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Mahomes has about a 25% of working out and will take 3 years to develop.

He is the prospect best taken by the saints or new england where their is an established QB in place at the end of his career to give him time to develop.

Man, at first glance I thought the exact same thing.

The talent he has though, if he finds a system capable of calming him down in the pocket and somewhat reigning in the first few steps when he does scramble, he can be really really good.

That release and multi-angle accurate ball is going to play for someone if the system is right. If he's there at 33 I'm thinking long and hard about it.

Just wish he played in a different system in college, the burden of learning an NFL offense as compared to what TTU runs is so vast.

Personally i think the top qb prospects have about a 50/50 chance. so the 25% chance is not me saying he cant work out.

As far the 3 years, i stick to it. He will have to sit fully a year just to learn, then by year 2 he will be a nightmare in the pocket and have to show patience. It wont be until year 3 you will see the potential.

He is an old school recruit in the sense he needs time to develop. Not many qb's are given the time.

I would compare him to brees who came from the Purdue basketball on grass system. He played 1 game his rookie year, then he didnt look like anything until his 4th year. His 6th year was in Nola which is where he got the right offensive system for him.

The difference is I think Mahonnes could be put in the right offensive system under Hue, but drafting him is a draft for patience.

So in other words the Browns should not draft him. They should wait till his rookie contract is up and sign him as a free agent..... LOL

I absolutely think all of these points are valid, but I'd argue that offense in the NFL is becoming more and more specialized for young quarterbacks to find effectiveness given the right circumstances.

That said, the Browns as constructed do not present that. On this team, I'd be inclined to believe he's somewhere in the middle of the three-year development plan and the instant success of other QBs around the league.

Just really think Mahomes talent is undeniable, and I'd LOVE to see the work he's putting in to prep for the draft to see if it's putting him on a path to quicker success.

I think the perception out there is bad mechanics, but I think he's got a good mechanical base to build off. There are bad habits you'd like him to eliminate immediately, hopefully he's able to do that effectively to allow his focus to shift to other things.

We'll have to see where Myles Garrett's combine numbers come in, but here's Bruce Feldman's freaks article from last summer:

The SEC's leader in sacks (12.5), tackles for loss (19.5) and forced fumbles (five) despite seeing an array of double teams, Garrett has more than lived up to his enormous recruiting hype. Listed at 6-5, 262, Garrett’s got the chiseled physique of a DB — a huge DB. The junior has off-the-charts workout numbers. He told me this month he power cleans 440 pounds and bench-presses 485 — staggering when you consider he also has a 40-inch vertical and his fastest 40 time at A&M, he said, is 4.45. “If I could dip into the 4.3s, that’d be great,” he told FOX Sports. It’s also been insane to see someone that big moving that fast. Garrett’s diet is pretty tight. “I just try to stay away from soda and try to stay away from candy and sweets,” he said, adding that he thinks he can bulk up to 270. Scary thought: Garrett doesn’t turn 21 until December.

Imo he's a better prospect than Clowney in just about every way, and that's no disrespect to Clowney.

Probably the player I want most that I'd balk at spending pick #12 on.

I just want to offer this dude a blunt every day until the draft so he can fail a drug test and fall to 33.
Anytime I hope a guy falls 5-10 picks so we can get him Pittsburgh or Baltimore take them.

Not necessarily, he will either be brought along slowly or ruined. I agree with AZ that if he is there in the 2nd round, I draft him and take my QB of the future a year early,

Sit him year one, let him learn as the emergency qb. Play him year 2. Simplify the offense, let him learn on the fly. Make sure the media has quotes from the coach knowing he will develp.

Then year three let him loose more, his talent is there, he just cant be the guy to come in right away and just kill it, you will have to bring him along slowly, but he has undeniable talent.

He has all the looks of the next stud Pro Bowl TE, can't wait to see his combine numbers!

starting to think about Garrett and Soloman Thomas....with Thomas being the 3 technique next to Shelton and ogbah and Garrett at DE....now that would be a scary D-line wow
