Just curious if there's any poker enthusiasts around these parts. :)

I have been playing for almost 10 years personally. Some crazy ride... Had a $50k upswing few years ago in just couple of months, and a $20k-$30k downswing after that :) Currently specializing in MTTs, had a pretty crazy heater this past week with over 10k in profit.

Anyone else?

Online?

I'm an avid poker player (No Limit); I used to play weekends in Vegas mostly between Caesars, Bellagio, Wynn but really wherever the action is.

In Hawaii, I played poker at Korean house games (it's illegal) for a good portion of my livelihood while finishing grad school. Played 4 nights a week, grinding it out from place to place.

I've played less these days just because of work and not getting out to Vegas as much. But in the coming months, I'll likely get back to doing it every other week.

There's casinos in LA where folks play, but, they're fucking disgusting and there's nothing but guys grinding in there. Not many loose players, and not much action at higher stakes that 1/2.

Nice man!!!

Are there any reputable sites for US players online that are legal?

Pokerstars.NJ (New Jersey only) would be one, but judging from the location in your profile it wouldn't be of any use to you. You can try America's Cardroom - I'm not completely sure whether they're 100% legal as far as regulations go, but currently it seems to be the most popular online poker room in the US. I've also registered there even though I'm not an American and had some success, since the games with a lot of Americans in them are really soft (no offense). Unfortunately, the schedule is completely tailored for the American timezones, so I don't really play there very often.

This streamer is an American, so maybe you can ask him about the site and he would explain it to you in more detail: https://www.twitch.tv/snostnlost

Used to play all the time, I've been in a league the last two years that plays monthly. I realized the game has passed me by. I think about starting back up but I'll have more holes than strengths at this point. I'd need to tear down my game and completely restart. I don't know if I have the time or patience. I used to do alright for myself on low stakes NLHE MTTs (less than 500 entrants). Paid for my living expenses my junior year of college. I had several $1000+ cashes back in the day.

This might be useful if you decide to come back to poker MTTs:

It's not free, but it's a good investment to make.

I wouldn't waste my money on a training site. If I jumped back in, I'd work on getting my ranges right, relearning equity and position. I'd post hands on poker forums to get feedback and then once I was comfortable I'd maybe sign up for a training site. If I were to buy any tool it would be an icm calculator as I tend to play MTTs and SNGs

Currently the best ICM tool out there is ICMizer: http://www.icmpoker.com/

I'm definitely an enthusiast, but I don't play frequently enough to consider myself a great card player. Used to play regularly back in college, but once I got out into the working world, it was just the occasional Friday night game with buddies and co-workers. I won a Texas Hold 'em charity tournament a year and a half ago that my company sponsored as part of our annual Xmas party (40 or so players, I took home a grand for winning, so nothing spectacular). But that was easy pickings really. I haven't played a "serious" game in years, and I suspect I'd get cleaned out if I even tried now.

Just signed up for Americas Cardroom. Everything thing I could get my hands on said it is legal for my location.

Sometimes I would prefer to play online rather than driving 20 minutes to the poker room here to sit with a bunch off grimy locals.

I could totally see you taking a team of MIT nerds to Vegas on the weekends to count cards. Ala Kevin Spacey in that movie 21.
